The Texas A&M Aggies have dominated the SMU Mustangs in recent years. The two teams now prepare to face off at Kyle Field on Saturday. What do the betting odds look like for our sports picks here?

Let’s take a closer look at the college football betting lines for this non-conference matchup in Week 4, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

A young football team

SMU is definitely going through some growing pains due to having just 17 seniors on its roster, but it did manage to come away with a 31-30 victory over Montana State as 10-point home favorites on Sept. 7.

The Mustangs will likely be an improved team on the gridiron in this affair, as they’ve gone 4-0 ATS off a bye week the last two-plus seasons under veteran head coach June Jones.

Johnny Be Good

Texas A&M is 2-1 SUATS during the 2013 campaign, as it looks to bounce back from a 49-42 setback to the Alabama Crimson Tide as eight-point home underdogs, but it did manage to win the statistical battle by 60 yards.

Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel led the offense to 628 total yards—the most ever gained against the Crimson Tide.

Scoring first

College football handicappers will want to keep a close eye on this matchup in the opening minutes, as the Mustangs are 16-0 when scoring first and 0-14 when their opponent strikes first in the last 30 games.

SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert is capable of putting points on the scoreboard, as he leads the nation in completions per game.

Series domination

There’s no question that this game qualifies as a letdown spot for the Aggies, as they come off a game against the defending national champions and have the Arkansas Razorbacks on deck.

It’s important to point out that the program is 11-0-1 SU in the last 12 meetings in this series since 1984, but it has gone 1-2 ATS as favorites of 21.5 to 31 points since 2011.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the UNDER, as I’m going to follow the early movement in the betting odds.

The public doesn’t expect any defense to be played in College Station this weekend—something that gives that downward movement even more strength in my eyes.
