Tulane has faced some stiff competition, but will be going nowhere this season while Navy will be headed for a Bowl game. See who we like in this matchup as our college footbal pick.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Jack Stephens Field at Navy Memorial Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. According to 5Dimes, Navy is a 24 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 54 on the college football odds. If Nay is to get into a good Bowl game,Tulane is the type of team that the Midshipman have to make easy work of.

The Option Play is the Only Option
After a loss, a good head coach willl tell a team to "shake it off". In this case, Navy suffered their first loss of the season in a 41-24 loss to Notre Dame. While the Midshipmen are a very good football team, they're just not in Notre Dame's class, especially when they can't and choose not to pass the ball due to the option play.

Against Tulane, who allow 38.5 points per game while only averaging 19.5 points, the option play will certainly work .Navy is an open book as they average just 57.4 yards passing and 335.4 yards rushing per game. They are the 2nd leading rushing team in the nation and still manage top average 35 points per game offensively with a good defense.

Keenan Reynolds
You're going to hear that name a lot in this game as Reynolds, the starting quarterback for Navy, has passed for just 281 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season, but is Navy's leading rusher with 598 yards and 9 TD's.

I expect Tulane to contain Reynolds to a degree as they know what's coming their way. That said, Reynolds does have other options to choose from, he can hand the ball off to running backs Chris Swain (420 yards, 4 TD) and Quentin Ezell (204 yards, 4 TD) and basically Jamir Tillman is his only target to throw the football to as every other receiver has 2 receptions or less this season. Navy is a team that will grind on a weak defense and are very predictable.

No Resistance
Tulane is really coming into this game in bad shape, being outscored by their opponents 92-17 in their last two games. This is a team quite opposite of the Naval Academy as they spread out the running game using 4 to 5 different running backs and 3 different receivers. The problem with Tulane is that they can't convert in the redzone and their poor defense that we've already talked about.

Tulane will need some big play options. Although he didn't reach the endzone last week, wide receiver, Devon Breaux caught 3 passes for 88 yards against Houston and leads the Green Wave in receiving. He averages 19.8 yards per catch and that's the type of production that Tulane will need as Navy will grind away and bleed the clock.

Running back, Dontrell Hilliard, is coming off of a game in which he scored the lone Tulane TD against Houston and rushed the football 11 times for 53 yards. He's no Keenan Reynolds and Navy should dominate time of possession and essentially this game. Take the Midshipmen to cover the betting spread as your college football pick.
