Our college football analyst shares his two best bowl selections for Wednesday. Go inside to find out what those college football picks are, and why he’s opted to wager on them.

Memphis vs. Auburn 12:30 PM ET
After getting off to its 8-0 start, Memphis dropped three of their final four games, and their only win during that sequence came over a 2-10 SMU squad. They’ll also be playing in this bowl game without their now former head coach Justin Fuente. He accepted the head coaching position at Virginia Tech following their regular season finale, and will replace Frank Beamer (retired) in Blacksburg. That occurrence has left some unrest among the ranks, and it can’t be a good thing for a Tigers team that staggered down the stretch.

My strength of schedule ratings indicates that Auburn has a substantial +7.6 edge over Memphis. In addition at the time of this taping, the AAC has gone 1-5 in bowl games thus far. If Auburn needs a reason to take their AAC opponent seriously, all they have to do is watch the tape of Memphis’ 37-24 upset win over Ole Miss earlier this season. You can’t discount the fact that they’ll be playing in nearby Birmingham, Alabama, and it will be an overwhelmingly pro Auburn crowd in attendance. I’m going to lay the small number in this game for one of my Tuesday college football picks.

College Football Pick: Auburn -3

Wisconsin vs. USC 10:30 PM ET
Wisconsin leads the country in scoring defense, allowing a paltry 13.1 points per game. They’re also 10th in 3rd down defensive efficiency by permitting opponents to convert just 30.6% of those specific situations. Now the bad news, they’re 80th in total offense, 78th in scoring, and are far from dynamic on that side of the ball.

USC has vastly underachieved defensively this season. With extra time to prepare, I look for USC’s defense to more than hold their own against an average at best Wisconsin offense. The Trojans are 8th in the country with 37 sacks this season.

Current college football odds provide me with a best combination of number and price for this specific wager.
