The Oklahoma Sooners and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will test each-other this weekend. Who are the College Football Odds favoring and which side of the lines should we back?

The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t enjoyed much success in previous match-ups with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but things may change Saturday afternoon.

Let’s take a closer look at the college football betting lines for this non-conference affair at Notre Dame Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Oklahoma is 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS this season, as it enters this contest off a bye week, while also focusing on gaining revenge from a 30-13 defeat to Notre Dame as 10.5-point home favorites last season

The Sooners are just 1-8 ATS when trying to avenge a loss to an opponent outside the Big 12 Conference, but they’ve gone 8-1 SU and 5-4 ATS as road favorites since 2011.

Plodding along

Notre Dame picked up a less-than-inspiring 17-13 victory over the Michigan State Spartans as four-point home favorites last Saturday, as the team continues to deal with a hangover of losing last year’s BCS championship game.

The Fighting Irish are 2-4 SUATS as underdogs the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 4-2 in that situation.

Running the football

College football handicappers can expect this game to be won on the ground, as the Sooners rank second among Big 12 memebers in averaging 271.2 rushing yards per game, while quarterback Blake Bell is a dual-threat in the backfield.

Bell will be making his second career start, as he threw for 413 yards and four touchdowns in a 51-20 blowout victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane as 23-point home favorites on Sept. 14.

Slow starts

It’s important to point out that the Fighting Irish have been outscored by a 43-37 margin in the opening quarter this season, which isn’t the type of number that instills confidence in backing a home underdog in the market.

Notre Dame has stated all week it wants to be more balanced on the offensive end, as quarterback Tommy Rees is averaging 39.3 pass attempts over the last three games, while the offense has been held to under 100 yards in each contest over that span.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Sooners for their college football picks, as they’ve gone 8-3 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games, while the Fighting Irish are on a 0-4-1 ATS run in that situation.
