Bob Stoops’ crew travels again in Saturday’s NCAAF betting against the Kansas Jayhawks. Can we find the best betting value for our college football picks?

The Oklahoma Sooners logged their season’s first defeat in last weekend’s 36-20 setback against the Texas Longhorns, falling as 13 ½-point ‘chalk’ in the “Red River Rivalry.”

Sooners shocked in Dallas

Oklahoma trailed by as many as 23 points in last week’s defeat, surrendering 445 total yards and 24 first downs to the Longhorns. Sooners quarterback Blake Bell failed to record a passing touchdown for a second straight week, while throwing a pair of interceptions.

Bell’s favorite target Lacoltan Bester logged five catches for a season-high 70 receiving yards. Oklahoma’s Damien Williams notched his side’s sole offensive touchdown, taking in a three-yard score as part of six carries.

Williams and Co. were held to a 2-for-13 mark in third-down conversions, while the Sooners’ special teams gave up an 85-yard punt return to Texas’ Daje Johnson. The battle’s combined 56 points ducked UNDER the betting odds ‘total’ of 57, with Oklahoma flagged for eight penalties (63 yards).

Jayhawks cash at TCU

Kansas ended a 0-4 ATS slide in last Saturday’s 27-17 defeat to the TCU Horned Frogs, holding on to collect as a 24-point road dog. Jayhawks cornerback JaCorey Shepherd snagged one of his side’s two interceptions, scoring a touchdown with a 32-yard return.

Kansas’ Jake Heaps connected 13-of-26 passes under center, including a scoring strike to tight end Jimmay Mundine. Jayhawks running back James Sims logged a season-high 23 carries, marching for 81 rushing yards.

The duel’s combined 44 points dipped below the closing ‘total’ of 45, making the UNDER 3-1 in the Jayhawks’ last four matchups. Kansas came away with a sparse seven first downs in its 27 minutes of possession, while staying in cashing range thanks to TCU’s three fumbles.

Back the OVER in Lawrence

Bet365 opened Oklahoma as 23 ½-point road ‘chalk,’ while first listing the ‘total’ at 48 on its NCAAF odds board. Early betting action on Kansas and the OVER saw the numbers move to 23 and 49, respectively.

I am tailing the ‘total’ steam here, backing the OVER in what shapes up as a lopsided affair.

Oklahoma bounced back with octane in its pair of spots last year that came after losses, with the OVER going 2-0. The Sooners should look to run it up early here, while Blake Bell gets a breakout matchup to lift his 139.3 quarterback rating.

Kansas was crushed at home in its sole contest at Memorial Stadium against a ranked foe, losing a 54-16 battle to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Jayhawks’ defense was lit up for 518 total yards and 31 first downs from Baker Mayfield and Co., with the duel’s 70 points surging OVER the ‘total’ of 55.

Oklahoma has seen the OVER cash at an 11-4 mark in its last 15 spots on turf, while the Jayhawks have had the same wager collect at 5-2 in their last seven battles against foes with winning records. The Sooners may be fuming enough to hang seven touchdowns themselves, while Kansas should be good for some late paydirt to seal the day for OVER backers' college football picks.
