We've got a great day of college football ahead of us. Let's look over the college football odds and try to find an edge.

Michigan State Spartans vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
We have Michigan State and Iowa going up against one another, and bragging rights in the Big Ten are up for grabs, along with a whole lot more. At the moment, the college football odds board shows the Spartans as favorites, although the spread is obviously not very high. They're favored by 3.5 points at most of the top sportsbooks, though some sites are offering an even number of three. The total is at 48.5 points.

Indeed, we foresee more of a physical, defensive game than a shootout in this one, although we shouldn't lose sight of how talented both Big Ten teams are. Michigan State has gotten great play out of quarterback Connor Cook and wideout Aaron Burbridge, and both will need to step up to keep the Spartans competitive against a formidable Iowa team.

Some may not have been aware of how good the Hawkeyes have been this season. C.J. Beathard has done a great job at the helm of the offense, and a dangerous running game has helped the cause in a major way too. Jordan Canzeri and company have all taken turns getting the job done out of the backfield, and stopping that run attack will be crucial towards Michigan State's chances of winning.

So, which way should we go? We do like the Hawkeyes in this game, mainly because they've had the better run game and have been tough defensively as well. They've struck up a very nice balance and haven't shown many weaknesses around the field, and they're certainly not going to be all that intimidated by Michigan State.

Many may be attracted by the thought of backing the Spartans at a small number, but we're on Iowa.

College Football Picks: Iowa Hawkeyes +150 (and +3.5 against the spread) at Bovada

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2959500, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Stanford Cardinal vs. USC Trojans
Yet another great matchup here, and the Cardinal and Trojans have already been through one exciting showdown. Stanford emerged victorious in that one, but a lot has changed since then, so we're fascinated to see who ends up on top on Saturday.

The Cardinal enter as the favorites, with Kevin Hogan hoping to lead his team to glory. He's been a rock for the offense, limiting the mistakes and making big plays when needed, and he's gotten a ton of help from running back Christian McCaffrey, who's been one of the most productive backs in the nation this season. You can expect Stanford to try and establish the run early and often in hopes they can control the tempo of the game.

As for the Trojans, they've been relying on the tandem of Cody Kessler and JuJu Smith, who have linked up for numerous scoring plays throughout the year. Kessler is a future pro and has played like it at quarterback, and Smith has been one of the most exciting young talents in college football. Those two will be at the heart of most good things this USC offense will produce, and while it's not going to be easy against the Cardinal, they have managed to have success against them in the past.

We like what we've seen out of the Trojans since the coaching change, and we know they're practically always going to have one of the most talented teams from top to bottom because of their recruiting prowess.

With our college football picks for Saturday, we think USC has a good chance of the upset, and so we're liking the notion of getting 4.5 points as well. This should be a highly competitive game, meaning the underdog should be considered for our college football picks.

College Football Picks: USC Trojans +160 (and +4.5 against the spread) at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2959499, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
