The Miami OH RedHawks may have one realistic shot left in avoiding a winless season, as they travel to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes Wednesday night. Read on to find out where we have decided to place our college football picks in this battle.

Let’s take a closer look at the college football odds for this Mid-American Conference matchup at Dix Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Downtrodden season

Miami is 0-9 SU and 2-7 ATS through nine games of the 2013 campaign, while getting outgained in eight of those contests, including a 45-3 blowout loss to the Bowling Green Falcons as 23.5-point home underdogs last Tuesday.

The RedHawks have been unable to change the course of the season under interim head coach Mike Bath, who took over the program on Oct. 6.

Senior Night

Kent State has a great opportunity of snapping a five-game losing streak in this affair, as 16 players will celebrate Senior Night, with the group compiling a 14-7 record at this venue during its time on campus.

The Golden Flashes are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in November the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the betting total (5-5 Over/Under).

Turnovers

It’s surprising that the RedHawks have covered the number in just two of their games this season, considering they possess a plus-three turnover margin—committing just 13 miscues.

Miami OH is 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS as road underdogs of 14.5 to 21 points since 2011.

Running the football

There’s no question that this game will be won on the ground, especially since the Golden Flashes are 12-2 when outrushing their opponent and 1-9 when failing to do so since the start of the 2012 season.

Kent State star running back Dri Archer has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury all year, entering with 306 yards on the ground through 10 games, which is a far cry from his total of 1,428 rushing yards in 2012.

Prediction

I’m going to recommend that readers back the RedHawks with their college football picks, as this is without a doubt their best chance of trying to avoid a 0-12 season.
