Unattractive Thursday ESPN College Football
Central Florida and East Carolina will play on Thursday in an American Athletic Conference matchup between two struggling teams. The opening kickoff at Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando, Florida is slated for 7:30 PM ET. Current (11/16) college football odds indicate that East Carolina is a 15.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 54.5 at Bookmaker. Central Florida has won the last two games between these teams, including a 32-30 win at East Carolina a season ago.

Pirates Lost Treasures
The Pirates of East Carolina have limped down the stretch of the regular season, going 0-3 SU & ATS in their last three games. They enter this week with a 4-6 record and need to win each of their final two games if they hope to become bowl eligible. They were off to a 3-2 start to the season before things began to unravel. During this current three game losing streak, they’ve scored 17 points or less in each of those contests. They’ll have a golden opportunity to put an end to their offensive doldrums on Thursday. The Pirates will be facing a Central Florida defense that’s allowed 45 points or more in five of their previous six games. The Pirates have also been plagued by a -9 turnover differential this season in their nine games versus FBS opponents. East Carolina has gone 1-4 on the road in 2015, and their lone win came against a 1-9 SMU team. None of East Carolina’s three wins against FBS opponents have come against a team that currently has a winning record.

Tumultuous Season at UCF
I can’t imagine the biggest pessimist among Central Florida fans would have predicted that they would be 0-10 at this juncture. It was just two seasons ago that Central Florida was in a New Year’s BCS Bowl and upset Baylor. That team was coached by George O’Leary and they had a star quarterback named Blake Bortles. O’Leary resigned in the middle of this season and Bortles is now the starting quarterback for the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars. UCF suffered a pair of losses by 1 point in two of their first three games, and since that time haven’t been competitive. Their last seven losses have each come by 14 points or more.

Final Thoughts
My best advice pertaining to this matchup is to steer clear of wagering on it. There’s a plethora of games on this week’s board with better value that can be used for your college football picks. If you put the proverbial gun to my head, I would have the tiniest of leans toward the home underdog.
