The Gators won the SEC East last week. Will they have any type of letdown against a downtrodden South Carolina team this week? Check our free college football pick inside.

Momentum
The Gators were great on defense, holding Vanderbilt to only seven points last weekend. However, the offense was horrible, bad enough to score only nine points and manage a negative yardage total in the third quarter. Florida was able to move the ball just long enough to set up a 43-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. The kick was made. Had it missed, the Gators would have lost, but that’s something Florida doesn’t have to worry about now. The Gators will play in the SEC Championship Game in December, and that’s what matters most.

South Carolina figured to get drilled by Tennessee, and that’s what it looked like early on when the Gamecocks fell into a 17-3 hole. However, they got better, tied the game at 17, and had a chance to win when trailing 27-24 late. A fumble, though, doomed their chances. The team is actually getting better, but it is still undermanned on defense.

Line Moves
The college football odds are such that Florida has moved to a 7.5-point favorite. Bettors know how bad Florida was on offense last week, but South Carolina’s defense isn’t nearly as good as Vanderbilt’s, and Florida’s defense can still hold down South Carolina’s offense.

Notable Injuries
Florida has linebacker Alex Anzalone listed as questionable for this game with a shoulder injury. Defensive back Keanu Neal is questionable with a foot injury. Kicker Jorge Powell is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Defensive back Deiondre Porter has been dismissed from the team. Offensive lineman David Sharpe is questionable with a foot injury. Defensive lineman Khairi Clark is questionable with an undisclosed condition. Defensive lineman Joey Ivie is likely to miss this game with an undisclosed condition. Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard is doubtful for this game with an arm injury. Offensive lineman Jordan Sherit is expected to miss the first half due to a suspension.

South Carolina has wide receiver Jerad Washington listed as is out for the season with a leg injury. Center Cody Waldrop is out for the season with an ankle injury. Defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth is questionable with a chest injury. Defensive back Antoine Wilder is questionable with a leg injury. Linebacker Sherrod Pittman is out indefinitely with a leg injury. Defensive back Rico McWilliams is questionable with a concussion. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is questionable with a hamstring injury.

Handicapping The Game
The Florida Gators won the SEC East title last week, but it’s not as though they looked good doing it. The South Carolina Gamecocks trailed by multiple possessions, made a comeback, and almost won at Tennessee. These two teams are in weird situations: One has a first-year head coach, while the other has an interim coach after the retirement of its former coach. Florida has first-year coach Jim McElwain on board, and South Carolina has interim coach Shawn Elliott, who replaced Steve Spurrier earlier in the season. Both teams have gained inspiration from their coaches, making this game one to watch on Saturday.

The Gators are a clearly better team. The matchup against South Carolina’s defense is favorable for Florida’s offense. The Gators will win, 20-10, so take them with your college football picks.
