Does this game go under the category of "no contest" for our college football picks because of San Diego State's dominance in the Mountain West Conference and Wyoming's struggles? Let's take a look.

Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 14th at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. At this point, San Diego State could give the NFL's San Diego Chargers a run for their money. According to 5Dimes, the Aztecs are a 24-point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 52 on the college football odds board.

How Bad Are They?
Sometimes, when a team is really bad, this is my introduction, but in the Cowboys case, they have a very respectable offense as they have a quarterback in Cameron Coffman, who has missed 3 games, and still managed to throw for 1574 yards with 15 TD and 7 INT, a running back in Brian Hill, who has rushed for 1327 yards on almost 6 yards per carry along with 5 rushing TD's and a receiving core led by Tanner Gentry in which is deep and anyone can step up on any given week. To top it off, Coffman will be back for this game and the Cowboys bettors and fans have to be happy about that.

Being that this is a team, with a legitimate offense, the obvious reason why they're record is a pathetic 1-9 is their defense. In order for Wyoming to win or even stay close in this game, they will need to make it a track meet; plain and simple.

Also noted is that Wyoming keeps games close. They have only lost by more than 20 points on one occasion.

5 Games and Counting
The San Diego State Aztecs would like to see their winning streak extended to 6 and for all intensive purposes, it will. However, I could see Wyoming staying "within the limits" as Cameron Coffman is back and 24 points is a lot for the Cowboys from a betting standpoint.

A huge reason why San Diego State is so successful is their defense. Although their offense is quite capable of putting points on the board, the Aztecs defense hasn't allowed more than 17 points in their 5 game winning streak. Something has to give as Wyoming has a very solid offense, but the records indicate that San Diego State's defense has more of an influence in these type of inter-conference matchups.

Donnel Pumphrey
San Diego State is a running team as Pumphrey has already eclipsed the 1000 yard mark and also has 12 TD's to go along with it. It's not to say that quarterback, Maxwell Smith, isn't capable of airing it out as he's thrown for 9 TD's and 2 INT, but the Cowboys pick their spots with the passing game. Something tells me that Smith could play a larger role than he normally does this week. Time will tell. This game comes down to the Cowboys defense limiting Pumphrey as they have proven that they can can be competitive. Look for the Cowboys to be competitive in this game despite their record and take the points with your college football picks.
