The Central Michigan Chippewas take to the road on Saturday as they collide with the NC State Wolfpack at 3:30 PM ET. Let's look at the Betting Odds for this game.

Saturday CFB Preview-Central Michigan @ NC State

According to current college football odds NC State is a 23.5-point favorite and the total is 52.0. My college football betting odds service shows that 73% of the general public has wagered on the home favorite thus far. The point-spread has held fairly steady from its opening number of 23.0.

The Teams

Central Michigan enters this contest with a record of 1-3. Their only win this season came versus a FCS opponent New Hampshire 24-21 in a game they failed to cover as a 7.0-point favorite. The Chippewas are a dismal 0-3 SU&ATS so far in 2013 versus FBS opponents losing by an average of 27.0-points per game in those contests. Last week they were 38-17 losers to Toledo at home. It’s been a very disappointing start for an experienced team that finished last season by winning their last 4-games.

The NC State Wolfpack is 2-1 so far this season. In their last contest they held their own versus #3 Clemson losing 26-14 but covering as a 13.0-point underdog. The Wolfpack opened the season with home wins versus Louisiana Tech and Richmond.

Final Analysis

NC State has been a bit inconsistent to start the year. They looked superb in their season opening 40-14 home win versus Louisiana Tech easily covering as a 14.0-point favorite. The offense was in high gear in that contest in racking up 542 yards of total offense. They followed that up with a near disaster barely squeaking by Richmond 23-21 as a 23.5 point favorite for our college football picks. It took a 48-yard field goal by Niklas Sade with 0:33 to go to avoid the major upset. Then in their last game they were very competitive versus the #3 team in the country. The question is at this point is which Wolfpack team will show up on Saturday.

It’s very difficult to come up with many-if-any positives when discussing Central Michigan at this early stage of the season. Their offense is anemic, and the defense has been less than stellar. The Chippewas needed a 27-yard field goal on the last play of the game to defeat New Hampshire for their only win on the season. They managed to squander a 21-0 first half lead at UNLV eventually losing 31-21, and even failed to cover in the process as a 7.5-point dog.

The Wolfpack should’ve learned their lesson in the Richmond game, and it would be difficult for me to comprehend that they possibly can be flat in this spot. This is just an awful Central Michigan team right now that will be fortunate to win another game this season.

Free Pick: NC State -23.5 over Central Michigan
