Free college football picks for the Week 7 ACC matchup between the CLemson Tigers and the Boston College Eagles. Where should bettors look to place their hard earned cash this Saturday?

The Clemson Tigers continued their unbeaten surge with last weekend’s 49-14 victory over the Syracuse Orange, cashing as 14-point road favorites. Dabo Swinney’s squad returns home for Saturday’s duel against the Boston College Eagles, with sports odds makers listing the Tigers as hefty ‘chalk.’ Find out if we are willing to lay the large number with our college football picks this weekend.

Tigers, Boyd thrash Orange

Clemson cruised to an early 21-0 lead in last Saturday’s win, with quarterback Tajh Boyd tossing two of his afternoon’s five touchdowns. The senior finished with 455 passing yards, connecting 20-of-27 attempts through the air.

Tigers wide outs Sammy Watkins and Adam Humphries united for 244 receiving yards, logging a combined seven catches. Boyd and Co. moved the ball for 27 first downs, while the Tigers escaped with just three penalties (30 yards).

Clemson’s defense held Syracuse to a 4-for-20 mark on third-down conversions, giving up a sparse 74 passing yards (2.6 YPP). The lopsided affair’s 63 points ducked below the closing ‘total’ of 65 ½, moving the UNDER to 2-1 in the Tigers’ last three contests.

Eagles, Williams fly past Army

Boston College ended a two-game losing skid on the same card, notching a 48-27 triumph as an 11-point home favorite over the Army Black Knights. The Eagles piled on 17 unanswered points through the matchup’s final gun, including a pair of scores from running back Andre Williams.

Williams came away with season-highs of five touchdowns and 263 rushing yards (8.8 YPR). Eagles quarterback Chase Rettig connected on 11-of-13 passes, finishing with 208 yards through the air.

The Eagles’ defense allowed 457 total yards, lasting through a sizable 35 minutes of possession for Army. Boston College’s Myles Willis logged 111 yards in three kickoff returns, while the duel’s combined 75 points leaped beyond the ‘total’ of 50 ½ by halftime.

Back the Eagles as road dogs

Clemson opened as a 24 ½-point favorite on most college football odds boards, with initial action on Boston College shifting the NCAAF odds south by a ‘hook’ to 24. The weather forecast at “Death Valley” calls for a 71 degree day, with calm winds and a 10 percent chance of rain.

I am tailing the early ‘steam’ here, taking the points with Boston College as part of Saturday’s sports picks.

Clemson has been piling on the points in its stellar season, but faces a look-ahead situation here with a showdown against Florida State looming in next week’s slate. The Tigers have also had their share of overvalued spots during the last three seasons, logging a 2-5 ATS mark in their last seven home dates as a favorite of 15 points or more.

Boston College has a 3-1 spread record through their most recent four battles, including a cashed ticket during the span as a 23 ½-point underdog against Florida State. The Eagles have seen their last four defeats to Clemson come by an average margin of 15 points, while having enough of a ground game to stay within cashing range here.

Look for Boston College to drive late for a back door cover here, adding another cashed ticket to the Eagles’ 4-1 ATS clip in their last five contests against foes with winning records.
