The Utah Utes and the Washington Huskies have very different records. Utah has just one loss,Washington is 4-4 and is desperately trying to make a bowl game. Who will be the college football pick?

Momentum
The Utes can play great defense anytime, but it’s been a long time since their offense did anything worth noting. The Utah win over Oregon by a 62-20 score featured the best performance from the Utes’ offense in many years. It might have been the Utes’ best offensive showing since they moved to the Pac-12. They might not have had as good a performance since their days in the Mountain West Conference. When that score went final, some people had reason to think that Utah found a complete offense. That’s what would have made the Utes a nearly unbeatable team. However, in recent weeks, the offense has looked a lot more like recent seasons. Quarterback Travis Wilson threw a bunch of interceptions in a loss at USC, and last week against Oregon State, the Utah offense did not look crisp at all. The Utes won the game because Oregon State’s offense is 10 times worse, but Wilson was not able to really turn the corner. Utah now goes up against a Washington defense which held Arizona to just three points last Saturday. The Utes will have a tough task on offense.

Washington blew out Arizona, and while the defense playing well against a banged-up Arizona offense was not surprising, the offense scoring 49 sure as heck surprised people. Jake Browning has been injured at times earlier this season, and in many games, he’s looked feeble, but against the Wildcats, he was very effective, and if he keeps up this level of play, the Huskies are going to be very tough to beat.

Line Moves
The college football odds started with Washington as a one-point favorite, and that line has stayed there. The betting public is skittish about Utah after the Utes lost on the road as an underdog at USC. That game seemed to validate the Vegas line in that game.

Notable Injuries
Utah tight end Evan Moeai is listed as out for the season with a leg injury. Defensive back Jordan Fogal is out for the season with what is listed as a knee injury. Defensive back Ahmad Christian is out indefinitely with an Achilles injury. Running back Troy McCormick is out for the season with a knee injury. Offensive lineman Lo Falemaka is out indefinitely with a chest injury. Running back Marcel Brooks-Brown is out indefinitely with a chest injury. Tight end Siale Fakailoatonga is out for the season with a knee injury. Offensive lineman Siaosi Aiono will miss this game due to an undisclosed condition.

Washington has offensive lineman Dane Crane listed as out for the season due to a back injury. Tight end David Ajamu is out for the season with a knee injury. Wide receiver John Ross is out for the season with a knee injury. Defensive back Brandon Beaver is out for the season with an ACL injury. Cornerback Austin Joyner is out for the season with a knee injury.

Handicapping The Game
The Utes’ offense is limited, but their defense should have a field day against Browning. The game will be close, but Washington could not beat Oregon a few weeks ago in a game with a very small point spread. This feels like the same situation. Take the Utes with your college football picks.
