Our analyst breaks down Saturday’s game between Florida State and Florida. Join us in reading this insightful betting article that culminates with his college football pick on the total.

Classic College Football Annual Rivalry
Florida (10-1) and Florida State (9-2) are set to square off on Saturday and write another chapter in their storied rivalry. The opening kickoff at “The Swamp” in Gainesville is slated for 7:30 PM ET. Current (11/24) college football odds at BetOnline indicate that Florida State is a 2.0 point road favorite, and the posted total is 43.5. Florida State defeated Florida 24-19 a season ago in Tallahassee. These teams have seen five of their last six encounters stay under the total.

Seminole Pride
A two loss season at Florida State, what’s the world coming two. That’s how successful the Seminoles program has been in recent years. Putting their supremacy into perspective, they’ve gone 53-6 (.898) in their last 59 games. They will be chasing their fourth consecutive season of winning ten games or more on Saturday. This year’s team possesses a stout defensive unit which is allowing just 17.0 points per game. The Seminoles have gone 4-0 under the total on the road this season, and there was a combined average of only 32.0 points scored per game.

A lot on the Line for Gators
Florida football is back in the spotlight for the first time since Tim Tebow was their quarterback, and Urban Meyer its head coach. Their lone loss of the season came in a close 35-28 defeat at LSU. However, last week they were given a huge scare at home against a Florida Atlantic team that entered that contest with a dismal 2-8 record. The Gators escaped with a 20-14 overtime win in a game they were a 28.5 point favorite. The Gators certainly can make an excuse, that they had already clinched a spot in the SEC Title Game, and had their huge rivalry game against perennial power Florida State on deck. In any event, last week’s closer than expected win marked the fourth consecutive game that Florida went under the total, and it was also the sixth time in seven contests that had occurred. The Gators are allowing just 14.5 points and 281.7 yards per game this season.

Final Thoughts and Pick
The Florida State offense has vastly underachieved on the road in 2015. They’ve averaged 16.7 points per game in four away contests, and that’s well below their season per game average of 32.8. Florida’s offense has been much improved compared to the ones we’ve witnessed in recent years. Even at that, they’ve been far from dynamic. The Gators have scored 28 points or less in each of their previous six games.

I like this contest to be a low scoring affair, and one of my college football picks this week will emulate that prediction.
