The Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-4, 1-3) have the test of a lifetime as they face the top team in the nation in the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0, 4-0). Check our college football pick inside.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, November 3rd at 8:00 p.m. EST at Ohio Stadium in Columbus Ohio. According to 5Dimes, the Buckeyes are a 23 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 52. We will see if there will be a dropoff at the quarterback position for Ohio State as J.T. Barrett received a 1-game suspension due to a DUI. In my opinion this will motivate Cardale Jones as he has a limited amount of time to impress head coach Urban Meyer.

One Game To Impress
Being that the suspension isn't a full season suspension, Cardale Jones is put in the hot seat to perform as he has 60 minutes to show the legendary Urban Meyer what he has. Meyer is the definition of winner and one of the greatest head coaches at such a young age. he won't accept anything less than perfection from Jones and Jones is in a good spot at Ohio Stadium and facing a merely average football team in Minnesota. The ball is in his court.

Ohio State is coming off of an easy 49-7 victory over an average Rutgers team with a massive superstar in wide receiver Leonte Carroo. In this game, Barrett was nearly perfect, going 14 of 18 for 223 yards and running for 101 yards on 13 carries. Jones has some big shoes to fill. That said, Jones did do clean up duty and was 3 for 3 for 24 yards in the Rutgers game.

What to Expect
Jones must know his limitations at 6 foot 5 and 250 pounds. He's not the runner that Barrett is and needs to avoid the turnovers as he's thrown for 7 TD and 5 INT this season. Cardale Jones must stick to the game plan by distributing the ball to Ezekiel Elliot (1130 yards rushing, 13 TD) and also targeting leading receivers, Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall.

Wide receiver, Braxton Miller, is the play maker and will create his own touches as he was formerly a quality quarterback for OSU. Expect business as usual for the #1 team in the nation. Urban Meyer won't accept anything other than that as this team is expected to be in the BCS Championship Game,

Not only is Ohio State formidable offensively, they play both sides of the football, allowing just 15.1 points per game and this will be a challenge for a Minnesota team that averages 21.1 points per game. The Golden Gophers have a solid defense, but they will need to score more than normal when facing the best of the best.

Confidence Builder
The Golden Gophers are coming off of a 29-26 loss to a very tough, defensive oriented Michigan team, led by head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Gophers played well.

Starting quarterback, Mitch Leidner, threw for a season high 317 yards along with 1 TD and freshman, Rodney Smith, ran for a very respectable 74 yards.

If we see a similar performance from the Minnesota offense that we saw against the Wolverines, who had the lead against Michigan and had them on the ropes, the 23 point spread will be covered easily. With the circumstances surrounding the quarterback issue with Ohio State combined with Minnesota's last game, I do expect the Golden Gophers to cover the spread as the college football pick.
