In this article we look at the college football odds for the ACC game between the Clemson Tigers and the Syracuse Orange and provide our Big Dog of the Week college football pick.

Clemson (-28) vs. Syracuse, November 13 at 3:30 ET ESPN2
The Clemson Tigers travel to the Carrier Dome on the campus of Syracuse University for this 3:30 ET kick as televised by ESPN 2 against the Orangemen.  Clemson is currently undefeated, has clinched the Atlantic Division of the ACC and is ranked No. 1 in the nation.  Syracuse has lost 6 in a row to virtually preclude any post-season opportunity.  That includes losses the last 2 weeks by (45-21) at Florida St. and (41-17) at Louisville.  By the very contrary nature of recent results and the value added as a result, makes this a clear selection as our CFB Big Dog of The Week. Throw in the fact that the last time Clemson played on this field, they won (49-14) and you can see why few are lining up with the Orangemen today!

Clemson Tigers
Last week, Clemson beat Florida State (23-13) for one of the biggest wins in program history.  The game was tied at 13 in the 4th quarter before the Tigers put down the hammer to close out the victory.  A review of the statistics from that game shows that the Tigers won the yardage 512-361 in a TO free game.  Despite returning only 3 starters to a defense that allowed just 17/261 last season, Clemson still is led by a Super D that allows 17/288.  It is on the offensive end led by QB Watson that their 200 CLUB offense has consistently led them to victory.  As a result, Watson is now being hailed as the best signal caller in the college ranks.  This in no part is fueled by the perception that he has continually played his best under pressure situations.

Today, however, the Tigers’ biggest challenge will be the “mother of all letdowns.”  The victory vs. the Seminoles got the monkey off their back against a team that had long dominated them.  It also clinched the ACC-Atlantic divisional title, as well as solidifying their rank as No. 1.  The question now becomes “have the Tigers peaked too soon?”  With remaining games against sub.500 entities, Syracuse, Wake Forest and S. Carolina and an ACC playoff foe over whom they will be clearly favored (N. Carolina?), is there any doubt that the Tigers’ performance will be less than 100% this week?

Syracuse Orange
Though Syracuse may have little postseason motivation, the opportunity to face the No. 1 team in the nation on your home field should be all that is needed for the Orangemen to play their best game of the year.  In a contest between 2 teams headed opposite directions, I invite you to step in by putting the college football odds in your favor (taking 2 TDs more than in the beginning of the season) for our college football pick on the Syracuse Orangemen as the CFB Big Dog of the Week.
