We’re going to examine Saturday’s huge game between #10 Baylor and #5 Oklahoma State. Go inside to read our revealing betting preview article which concludes with a college football pick.

Showdown in Stillwater with National Implications
Oklahoma State hosts Baylor in a huge BIG-12 game on Saturday. The opening kickoff at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma is slated for 7:30 PM ET. According to college football odds at BetOnline, Oklahoma State is a 1.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 77.0. Baylor defeated Oklahoma State last year in Waco by a score of 49-28, but failed to cover as a 32.5 point favorite.

Bears on the Rebound
Baylor is coming off a disappointing 44-34 home loss to Oklahoma last Saturday, and it was their first defeat of the season. The question now becomes, how do they respond a week later in a road game against an undefeated opponent? The Bears are a perfect 3-0 in true away games this season, but this will be by far their sternest test to date. Their other three road victories came against the likes of SMU, Kansas, and Kansas State. Heading into this week, those three teams had a combined record of 4-25.  In Baylor’s defense, they outscored those three opponents 159-52. The Bears suffered a huge blow a few weeks back when starting quarterback Seth Russell sustained a season ending neck injury. However, Jarrett Stidham has stepped in and done more than an admirable job. Stidham is completing 71.6% of his passes, and thrown for 11 touchdowns while being intercepted just twice in 88 attempts.

Impressive Record and Shaky Resume
Even the most ardent of Oklahoma State fans wouldn’t have believed before the season started, that their team would be in this position with two regular season games left to play. Well it’s a reality, the Cowboys are 10-0, and have a realistic opportunity to be in the New Year’s Eve College Football Playoff. They must defeat Baylor (8-1) this week and then arch rival Oklahoma (9-1) to make it tough on the playoff committee. Even if they attain those two wins, they may need some outside help. As of Tuesday night’s latest playoff rankings, Oklahoma State was #5. They’re chasing Clemson (10-0), Alabama (9-1), Ohio State (10-0), and Notre Dame (9-1). Based on the committee’s though process regarding their voting, I believe it’s safe to say the Cowboys can ill afford a loss in either of its final two games.

Final Analysis and Pick
Oklahoma State was quite fortunate last week in a come from behind 35-31 win at Iowa State (3-7). As a matter of fact, they’ve won four games by 7 points or less this season, and three of those came against teams which currently have losing records. The point spread in this game, reeks of the sportsbooks begging you to take the higher rated and undefeated home team. I’m not falling for the trap, and the road team will be one of my college football picks for Saturday.
