In Thursday College Football action, we have what should be a very competitive matchup in which the Western Kentucky square off against Lousiana Tech. The Hilltoppers are the field goal betting favorite on the road.

As stated earlier, according to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the Hilltoppers are a 3 point betting favorite while the betting total is currently unavailable for this game. Keep an eye on up until game time when the betting total will be provided.

No Shortage of Offense With Louisiana Tech

They came up big with a 28-7 victory over UTEP in their most recent game, but the offense isn't the problem for the sub .500 Bulldogs, it's their defense. Coming into last Saturday's game, the Bulldogs had allowed 36.3 points per game and were on a 2 game losing streak. I look for Tech to come into this upcoming game with a bit of confidence and a ton of offense to back it up.

 Senior Smarts

Louisiana Tech starting quarterback, Ryan Higgins, has learned not to force the football and it's paid off for the senior as he has 12 TD's and 2 INT to his credit while throwing for 8 TD's and without an interception in his last 3 games. Higgins had an efficient display of quarterbacking in his win over UTEP and prior to that, had a 500-yard passing game in a 38-34 loss to Middle Tennessee. I look for Ryan Higgins to play well here as he's proven to show major growth throughout his collegiate career.

High Powered Offense

The Bulldogs feature an equally formidable running and passing game with running back, Jerrad Craft (551 yards, 7.2 yards per carry, 3 TD's) and wide receiver Trent Taylor. Taylor is putting up monster numbers as he leads the team with 753 yards and 8 TD's receiving. This is a player that caught for over 1000 yards last year and the senior is off to the races this season with 4 consecutive games of 100 yards receiving and at least 1 touchdown reception. The Hilltoppers defense should have major trouble with this little man with large numbers and he will be one of the keys to Louisiana Tech possibly picking up a much-needed win.

Western Kentucky has a high-powered offense of their own as they're coming off of a 50-3 win over Houston Baptist. The only issue with me is the level of competition that WKU has faced, but nonetheless, it's still a huge win and they can only play the teams that are listed on their schedule.

Anthony Wales

The Hilltoppers feature a well balanced offensive attack as running back Anthony Wales, who is coming off of a 1000 yard season rushing, leads WKU again this season in the rushing department. Wales has 341 yards and 5 TD's in just 4 games. He only saw 7 carries against Houston Baptist but made the most of his time on the field as he rushed for 87 yards and 1 TD. While Wales didn't fare so well against Alabama (44 yards) he should have an easier time of it against Lousiana Tech.

WKU also has two big-time targets for quarterback Mike White to throw the football to in Taywan Taylor and Nicholas Norris. The receivers have combined for over 1000 yards receiving and 7 TDs. Taylor is coming off of a 1467 yard, 17 TD season in his junior year and there's been no let up as this is a receiver that caught for over 100 yards against Alabama. If the Crimson Tide couldn't stop him, do you think that the Bulldog will be able to?

Look for Western Kentucky to put forth another big effort. Although this game should be relatively close, my college football pick is that WKU should come out on top and should also cover the betting spread.
