Will LSU be a little flat while Arkansas comes into the game fired up? Join us as we take a look at the Tigers-Razorbacks matchup with a free college football pick?

Season: 20-18-3 (+0.90)

One team is coming off a tough, close loss to its most bitter rival, the other spent last Saturday beating a foe in conference play for the very first time. How much of the mood from either game lingers this week into their own clash remains to be seen.

That sets the stage for an SEC showdown up in the Ozarks between the LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks, ESPN beginning its broadcast from the pigpen at 7 PM (ET). After seeing its SEC hopes dashed a week ago, LSU reaches Razorback Stadium drawing different chalk lines at some of the top sports books, Bookmaker having the Tigers at -7½ and juicing Arkansas bets while BetOnline has it an even -7 and taxing the visitors a little more.

The total opened as high as 48½, but that scoreboard hurdle has since been lowered to 45½ at most wagering locales.

Can Hogs Pull Off 2nd-Straight SEC Upset?

After averaging over 530 yards of offense in three straight wins, Louisiana State (5-3 straight up, 3-5 against the spread) ran into an Alabama team intent on putting forth one of the best defensive performances in years last week. Ed Orgeron and his staff never could come up with a scheme to move the ball on the ground or through the air, and the result was a 10-0 loss as 7 point home 'dogs on the NCAA football odds in front of Tigers faithful.

They should find the going a little easier this week against a Razorback defense which ranks ninth in the SEC allowing more than 407 YPG, almost half of that on the ground where the Hogs sit 11th in the conference.

Two weeks removed from a shellacking at the hands of Auburn, Arkansas (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS) definitely improved its run defense in a 31-10 upset of Florida. Closing as 3 point underdogs at home, the Razorbacks held the Gators to 12 yards rushing on 14 attempts, building a 21-7 halftime lead to pick up their first-ever win over Florida since joining the SEC. The upset threw the SEC East into a wild scramble in the process.

Bayou Bengals Looking To Stop 2-Year Skid Vs. Arkansas

These two schools first got together on a gridiron in 1901 and played regularly until the mid-1930s before sporadic meetings the next 60 years. The rivalry renewed once Arkansas shifted to the SEC, and it's LSU with the all-time lead of 37-22-2, one of those ties coming in the legendary 1947 Cotton Bowl when they played to a scoreless knot in frigid, icy conditions.

The Razorbacks have won the last two, and covered the last four. Three of the last four never made it to the totals, including last year's battle in Baton Rouge where Arkansas posted a 31-14 upset as a 6½ point underdog.

All signs point to almost perfect football weather Saturday night in Fayetteville. Clear skies will be accompanied by temps in the low-to-mid 50s with almost no wind at kickoff.

A big factor in my free college football pick is I'm just not sold on the Tigers' state of mind coming out of the Alabama game. Let's take the Razorbacks plus the points this time.
