We’re going to be examining Saturday’s game between California and Utah. Go inside to get the early inside scoop on this contest, and it includes our point spread selection.

PAC-12 Undefeated Teams Clash on Saturday Night
Two nationally ranked teams square off on Saturday night when #5 Utah (4-0) hosts #23 California (5-0). The opening kickoff at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah is slated for 10:00 PM ET, and it will be aired by ESPN. These PAC-12 rivals haven’t met since 2012. According to college football betting odds, Utah is a 7.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 61.0.

The Jered Goff Factor for Cal
If it wasn’t for the marvelous start that LSU star running back Leonard Fournette has had, we certainly would be hearing Jered Goff’s name be mentioned more frequently in the Heisman Trophy conversation. All Goff has done through the first five games is complete 70.2% of his passes, for 1630 yards, and 15 touchdowns against 4 picks. However, this will be his sternest test to date against a Utah defense that allows just 18.7 points per game. The Golden Bears are a stellar +8 in turnover differential during their 5-0 start.

Dream Win for Utah
Even the most ardent of Utah fans couldn’t have envisioned the 62-20 blowout win at Oregon two weeks ago. Utah dominated the contest from start to finish, and the outcome was never in doubt for the 10.0 point underdog Utes. The return of previously injured starting quarterback Travis Wilson against Oregon was a welcomed sight. Wilson threw for 227 yards and 1 touchdown, while also running for 100 yards and a score. The Utes should have no excuse for a letdown. They’ll be facing a ranked conference undefeated opponent on Saturday, and will be playing on two weeks of rest.

College Football Betting Angle
Any favorite of 3.5 to 10.0 (Utah), coming off a road win by 21 points or more, versus an opponent (California) coming off conference wins in each of their previous two games, resulted in that favorite going 42-10 ATS (80.8%) since 2006. The average line for the favorite in those fifty-two games was -6.6, and their point per game differential was a comfortable +15.7.

I have a small early line toward the home favorite in this contest for one of my college football picks.

College Football Pick: Play on Utah -7 (-105) at Heritage.
