According to college football odds, Alabama is a 28-point favorite and the posted total is 48.5. The Crimson Tide has defeated Arkansas the last 6 times they’ve met. The last Arkansas win in the series came on 9/23/2006 at Fayetteville 24-23. That was an Alabama team coached at the time by Mike Shula. Nick Saban took over the head coaching duties in Tuscaloosa the following season. What are the best college football picks we can make in this game?

Roll Tide Roll

Alabama is once again playing at a high level and is on track for their 4th BCS Title Game appearance in the last 5 years. The Tide comes off a 48-7 rout at Kentucky in a game they outgained the Wildcats 668-170 in a thoroughly dominating performance. The Tide defense has allowed 10-points or less in 5 of their 6-games this season. The only exception to the rule was in their 49-42 win on the road at Texas A&M. Alabama has gone under the total in all 3 home games in 2013 with an average combined total score of 36.7 points scored.

Reeling Razorbacks

After opening the season 3-0 versus less than stellar opposition the Razorbacks has proceeded to drop their last 4 games in a row. Last week they were hammered at home by South Carolina 52-7 as a 6.5-point underdog. They were outgained by the Gamecocks in the game 537-248. The Razorbacks offense has been listless in the last 2-games scoring just 17-points total and having a combined 523 yards of offense. Arkansas is a dismal 0-5 SU&ATS in their last 5 games as an away underdog of 10or more losing by an average of 26.8 points per game.

Final Analysis

This isn’t a game that I will be wagering on this week. Nick Saban isn’t a proponent of running the score up once a comfortable lead has been established. Arkansas has very little positives to hang their hat on entering this contest. My sports pick in this instance is one of a very tiny lean on the home favorite in this spot.
