Friday Night Football in the Mountain West
The Utah State Aggies hosts the #21 ranked Boise State Broncos on Friday. The opening kickoff at Romney Stadium in Logan, Utah is slated for 9:00 PM ET, and the game will be aired by the CBS Sports Channel. At the time of this writing, college football odds show Boise State as a 9 or 9.5-point favorite, and the total ranges from 48.5 to 49.5. Boise State has won their last twelve games against Utah State, including a 50-19 blowout at home last season. The Broncos have also covered ten of the last eleven in this series, and the only time they failed to do so was in 2010 as a 40.5-point favorite.

Red-Hot Broncos
Since losing at BYU in early September, Boise State has gone 4-0 SU&ATS, and their average margin of victory has been 45.0 points per game. During that amazing stretch, they’ve held opponents to a combined 24 points, and they’ve also surrendered 14 points or less in five of six games this season. Boise is an incredible 93-7 against conference opponents since the 2002 season began.

Tough to Gauge
What Utah State team can we expect to see this evening? Will it be the one that narrowly escaped with a 12-9 win in their season opener against Southern Utah, or the team that’s outscored Colorado State and Fresno State in their last two games by a cumulative 89-32 margin? My educated guess leads me to believe somewhere in between, and if that’s the case, it still might not be good enough to stay in this game for four quarters.

College Football Betting Angle
Boise State is coming off a 41-10 blowout win at Colorado State in their previous game. As I somewhat alluded to in the previous paragraph, Utah State is coming off back to back wins over conference opponents in their previous two games. This sets up an extremely profitable ATS betting angle that I’ll utilize when making my college football picks.

Any favorite of 3.5 to 10 with a winning record, coming off a road win by 16 points or more, versus an opponent coming off back to back wins over conference opponents, resulted in the favorite going 25-4 ATS (86.2%) since 2006.
