The Golden Flashes would have to put up their best performance of the season and then some to compete with the home town Rockets. Is this the "slam dunk' that it appears for Toledo?

Kickoff is set for Saturday, October 10th, at 3:00 p.m. ET at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio. According to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the Rockets are a massive 15 point betting College Football Odds favorite and the total for the game is listed at a modest 44 points.

The low point total (for a college football game) is definitely attributed to the Rockets allowing just 13 points per game while Kent State possesses a merely average offense at best. I get the feeling that Kent State will have trouble putting up points on the board in thismatchup that favors Toledo.

Holy Toledo!
The Rockets defense are coming off of a huge defensive effort as they held Ball State running back, James Gilbert, to a mere 29 yards on the ground. The Cardinals have to be shell-shocked after their 24-10 loss to Toledo as Ball State dominates on the ground, leading the MAC at 232 yards per game, but not on this day.

Toledo took control of the game with 24 points in the 2nd quarter, led by 2 touchdown passes from starting quarterback, Phillip Ely, leaving Ball State helpless as the Rockets aren't a team that will surrender a lead. If Kent State is to have any chance in this game, they need to strike quickly with a big play and take control of the game.

Keeping the Score Low
Toledo isn't an overwhelming team offensively as Ely has thrown for jsut 4 TD and 4 INT on the season. Wide receiver, Corey Jones is the only player to catch more than 10 passes on this squad. For the season, Jones has 21 receptions for 182 yards and 1 TD. Ely can thread the needle, but only throws when necessary as this is a grind'em out team that produces most of their yardage on the ground and bleeds the clock as the opposition is unable to contend with their defense.

Damian Jones-Moore
Junior, Damion Jones-Moore is the lead back on the Rockets and he's gotten into the endzone in each of his 4 games this season. Toledo spreads the ball on the ground, but Jones-Moore, who is coming off of a solid 85 yards against Ball State, is the leading ground gainer for the Rockets.

For most winning teams, a team needs a balanced offensive attackand in Kent State's case, they get production on the ground, but clearly have no break away runners as their 5 leading rushers all average less than 4 yards per carry and that's very rare. Senior, Trayion Durham, is a running back that has produced in the past with a season of over 1000 yards, but he's very inconsistent as his 49 yards on 2.7 yards per carry last week against Miami (OH) indicates.

I like the Rockets to run away with this game, but their defense is the main reason why and although 44 points might seem low, it's not in this case. Take the under as your College Football Pick.
