It will be a 'Defense optional' kind of Saturday night in Tempe, Arizona. Our capper analyzes the college football odds and finds the best betting angle for you. Make sure you check this out.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs Arizona State Sun Devils
Saturday Night’s night cap on Fox Sports One features two high-octane offenses matched up against questionable opposing defenses. The Sun Devils and the Red Raiders each faced opening week FCS opponents and came out comfortably on top. It took ASU a bit longer to put the game out of reach but nonetheless won 44-13. The ASU defense has a couple unanswered questions especially in the backfield, where they are very inexperienced. The Red Raiders have similar unanswered questions, although primarily focused on run defense. Each team has yet to be torched through one week of the schedule against far inferior opponents, but that projects to change Saturday night in Tempe. Currently, the college football odds has Arizona as -1 favorites, with the average of the O/U at 78-80

The signal caller for Texas Tech is Patrick Mahomes who is one of if not the best quarterback in all of college football. The 6’3 230-pound duel threat QB did not play on the Texas Tech baseball team this year in order to give 100% focus to football and progressing as a quarterback. The increased offseason preparation showed week 1, Mahomes was 30 of 43 passing, throwing for 483 yards. I expect similar numbers from the Whitehouse Texas High School product against an unproven Arizona State defense.

Arizona State is looking to push the tempo this year under the direction of 1st-year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. Lindsey was with Southern Miss calling plays in Hattiesburg for the high-scoring Golden Eagles offense before heading to the desert. This year he has the asset of a running quarterback, in sophomore Manny Wilkins. The duel threat QB hit on just under 75% of his passes for 180 yards week one, but even more impressive was the resemblance to former ASU QB Taylor Kelly. Wilkins racked up just under 90 yards on the ground in the opening week. Granted it was against an FCS opponent in Northern Arizona, but the mindset to make plays happen with your feet is something this offense will benefit greatly from this season. Keep in mind, the Texas Tech defense unit has not had much success against any duel threat QB’s in recent years.

This BIG 12 vs PAC 12 matchup is the best game on the weekend slate. The nightcap on Saturday night is on national television at 10 pm eastern. The desert should showcase a ton of points and a great atmosphere, for my free college football pick, I recommend a wager on the over 79.
