Florida St. visits the Carrier Dome for their Saturday, November 19th meeting with Syracuse. Expert capper Joe Gavazzi takes a look into the odds and makes his free NCAAF pick.

Florida St. (-21) vs Syracuse 3:30 ET

With 3 losses for the season (they were expected to compete for the National Title), it has been a disappointing campaign for the Seminoles. With their annual rivalry game with Florida next week, one might expect them to “mail it in” this afternoon. But, that’s not nearly as disturbing a situation as it is for Syracuse who, without starting QB Dungey (concussion), will see their hopes of a 6-6 SU season quickly vanish. Late season teams, who are 4-6 SU, often play with a special motivation, especially in the role of home underdog when vying for consecutive season-closing wins that will allow them to reach the coveted 6-win mark. As you will read in the following analysis, however, that motivation will be short-lived once they fall meaningfully behind against this vastly superior defensive team, who will also have a huge edge on the offensive side of the ball.

Under 1st year HC Dino Babers, the Orange are offering a much more exciting brand of football on the offensive side of the field. After averaging only 320 YPG last season, Syracuse has put up 414 or more offensive yards 7 times this year. In the last 2 weeks, however, with QB Dungey injured, they have been outgained 565-277 in a 54-0 loss at Clemson and 546-220 in a 35-20 loss on this field last week to NC State. It is a big step down to his backup (QB Mahoney), as indicated by the performances the last 2 weeks. If the Orange offense does not move, which would have been tough even with Dungey against the speed of the Seminole defenders, their greater issues come on defense. They have allowed 62 to Louisville, 50 to Notre Dame and 54 to Clemson.

Florida St. frosh QB Francois was dinged up a bit in the victory (45-7) over Boston College last week. Even with an injured shoulder, he is listed as probable for this game. Last Friday, in their 45-7 win over Boston College, the Seminoles took out a season worth of frustration. Expect that to happen again tonight in this super-surger vs. towel-tosser scenario on a fast indoor track. It will allow them to enter their rivalry game against Florida next week with great momentum.

I invite you to put the College Football ODDS in your favor and join me in my College Football PICK on Florida St. this afternoon.

Remember to drop by SBR's list of the best-ranked bonuses, and find out which of the top rated sportsbooks is offering the best deals!

Free College Football Pick: Florida St. -21

Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3028809, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,19,999996,180], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
