Texas A&M vs Alabama

The spotlight this weekend is on the Texas A&M Aggies going head to head in a key SEC West matchup against the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. This will be the third time in the last four years that Alabama and Texas A&M play with both teams ranked in the top 10. Neither the Aggies or the Tide are scheduled to face another team currently ranked in the top 20. Ultimately, giving the team that comes out on top a massive leg up on the path to the SEC championship game. Some think this might be Alabama’s best team during the Saban administration, I will take a bit of the other side with the thought that giving 18 points to the second best team in the SEC is too high of a price tag for even mighty Alabama.

One major reason that the betting value is that Texas A&M is coming off of a bye week. A week 7 bye week in the middle of Southeastern Conference play can go a long way. Extra time to get healthier, work on fundamentals, clean up special teams assignments, an extra week of film preparation for Trevor Knight to avoid the critical turnovers that have boosted this Crimson Tide team with non-offensive touchdowns. I believe the intangibles that have been so heavily favoring Bama will be diminished this week, if not favor the Aggies across the NCAAF odds board.

Texas A&M has exceeded expectations this season with the 6-0 start and a defense that has vastly improved in John Chavis’ second season in College Station. They possess arguably the best defensive line in the nation with All-American Myles Garrett and senior Daeshon Hall coming off the edges and healthier then they have been since week one. It will likely be the toughest test for the young Bama QB Jalen Hurts.

Always remember to bet numbers not teams and this play on the underdog Aggies is exactly that. Saturday afternoon will be the toughest test Bama has faced, on the flipside it will also be the toughest test A&M will face. The Aggies have the more experienced QB with extra time to prepare while getting over 18 points. Don’t forget Trevor Knight has something to prove being ousted at Oklahoma, he has played well so far YTD, I expect him to play focused, protect the ball and make plays with his feet. Something that has given the Tide defenses issues in recent past. Gig' em Aggies! For my College Football pick, I say take Texas A&M plus the points (+18.5) at Bet OnLine.
