We look at the most recent college football odds to win the 2016-17 National Championship and analyze the recent movements that some of the top teams experienced.

There were notable changes on the college football odds to win the 2016-17 National Championship at Bovada, as the Ohio State Buckeyes are the new favorites at +600. The Alabama Crimson Tide, the reigning champions and the previous favorites, have the second-best odds at +700. The Clemson Tigers, the runner-ups last season, have the third-best odds at +750.

Ohio State moved from a three-way tie with Michigan and Baylor at +1200 odds in January. Back then, Bovada’s odds listed Alabama at the top at +700 odds and Clemson was second at +750.

The Michigan Wolverines moved up to a tie with the Clemson Tigers. Oklahoma, Tennessee and LSU are next at +1400, with Baylor, Notre Dame and Stanford at +1600.

The Buckeyes lost plenty of talent to this year’s NFL Draft, including some early entries,  but the oddsmakers believe that Urban Meyer has recruited and developed enough talent to replace those losses and make another title run.

The Michigan Wolverines opened at +1200 and their betting odds have since shifted to +750 after they signed several top talents to fill out the roster in the future. Meanwhile, teams like the Baylor Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Stanford Cardinal and Oregon Ducks saw their odds fall.

Alabama will lose their starting quarterback Jake Coker and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry will likely declare for the Draft also. But, as long as Nick Saban is on the sidelines, Alabama deserves to be considered for college football picks.

Clemson will not lose any major offensive players and Heisman runner-up Deshaun Watson has at least one more season left with the team, but defensive star Shaq Lawson is expected to go to the NFL.

At +1600 odds, Notre Dame is a potential dark horse team that barely missed the college football playoffs despite injuries to key starters. The Fighting Irish will build off a 10-win season.
