Expert capper loves how the Conference USA Championship Game between Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky is setting up for bettors and he is ready for his college football pick.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs At Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

With the Bulldogs having the Conference USA West Division locked up before their game last week, it could be expected that they might have looked forward to this Conference USA Championship Game before kickoff against Southern Mississippi. The Bulldogs ended up getting beat on the road on Southern Miss’ Senior Day, 39-24, as a heavy 15.5-point road favorite on college football odds. That loss broke a streak of 6 ATS wins and 6 'overs' for Louisiana Tech, as the high-scoring offense of the Bulldogs (8-4) put up their lowest point total since playing SEC foe Arkansas in Week 1.

Now the Bulldogs play their 5th game out of their last 7 on the road as they travel to 9-3 Western Kentucky for the C-USA title. WKU is coming off of 5 straight wins of 28 or more points, outscoring its last two opponents 105-13. Those blowouts were against teams in the bottom of the conference, though, so we have to take the Hilltoppers with a grain of salt.

Western Kentucky scores a lot of points at home and scores them fast – it averages 32 points per game at home in the first half alone. Overall, the Hilltoppers score 44 points per game. This is exactly the same amount that Louisiana Tech scores per game as well. The difference in these two teams' statistics is definitely ion defense, with Western Kentucky having a clear advantage in allowing 22.4 points per game this season. Louisiana Tech allows a robust 33.3 points per game, which explains its 9-3 O-U record on the season.

Luckily for us, we don’t have to go too far to find the answer if the Hilltoppers defense can be effective against the high-flying offense of the Bulldogs. These teams met in Week 6 at Louisiana Tech and the game was an absolute barn burner, with the Bulldogs winning 55-52. Western Kentucky gave away the ball twice on fumbles, but at one point Louisiana Tech was up by 25 points in the third quarter. The Hilltoppers used a late fourth-quarter TD and blocked punt return TD to come make the final score close.

What we have here is a matchup between a team that has looked absolutely unbeatable for more than a month and another that just disappointed college football bettors looking for a blowout win. This has led to Western Kentucky being favored by 10 points at sites such as Bovada. But I’m not expecting anything other than Louisiana Tech’s best effort here, and since we’ve seen it beat Western Kentucky before this year (and last) I have confidence that the Bulldogs can keep it close. These teams also covered the listed O/U of 80 in 3 quarters in their last game. I’m taking Louisiana Tech plus 10 points and the 'over', and adding a parlay and teaser of both of those leans as well. My season NCAAF record is 34-31-2 (-0.20 units).
