Oklahoma's Kyler Murray made a late rally to win the 2018 Heisman Trophy. With the 2019 Heisman odds out at some books, it’s never too early to handicap what might be happening a year from now.

The 2019 college football season doesn’t kick off until late August, but odds to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy have been released and there are a number of familiar names touted in the futures market. Several perceived Heisman candidates will bless sports bettors on 14 NCAAF Saturdays from Labor Day until the first Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will feature the first meeting ever between the SEC’s Alabama and the ACC’s Duke on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (ALA 9-1 in Atlanta, 4-0 at Mercedes-Benz). The Crimson Tide could have three very strong candidates to win the 2019 Heisman in quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts and WR Jerry Jeudy.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Kyler Murray, Heisman Trophy winner. pic.twitter.com/5rOdchvY3l
— ESPN (@espn) December 9, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

Tagovailoa looked as if he would be the easy winner of the 2018 Heisman, but a strong final week by the eventual winner, Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, combined with a non-Tua-like performance against Georgia in the SEC Championship game, led many writers to cast their ballots for Murray, the second straight year an Oklahoma QB won the prestigious award (Baker Mayfield).

Here are the latest odds (as of Dec. 16) for the 2019 Heisman Trophy Award winner from popular offshore sportsbook 5Dimes, where Tagovailoa is the 3-to-1 opening favorite:

Tua Tagovailoa +300
Trevor Lawrence +450
Jake Fromm +650
Jonathan Taylor +700
Travis Etienne +775
D’Andre Swift +775
Sam Ehlinger +850
Jerry Jeudy +1050
Austin Kendall +1050
Tate Martell +1050
A.J. Their stock would greatly improve about 11 months from now if their teams can get over the Ohio State and Alabama humps, respectively. Taylor has had nice statistical starts the last two seasons, but Heisman voters seem to vote for high-profile QBs from teams that have a shot to play for a national championship.

Whether or not Tagovailoa stays healthy enough for the 2019 season and plays enough in the fourth quarter to appease the often lemming-like voters remains to be seen. Thoughts of a “he’s earned it” type sympathy vote for him could permeate this market, which also might include the nasty reality — like this current season — of two extremely good Clemson players (Lawrence, Etienne) possibly splitting some votes (again) and potentially hurting each other’s cause.

2019 HEISMAN TROPHY AWARD WINNER FUTURES PICK: Trevor Lawrence +450 (5Dimes)
