Expert Capper Joe Gavazzi provides his If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It Pick. In this occasion he looks into the Akron vs Marshall clash for early Saturday. Read on to get his College Football Pick.

Each week on these pages, we look for a positive momentum play entitled IF IT AINT BROKE, DON’T FIX IT. These selections are 2-0 ATS this year, after S. Mississippi cruised opening week with their 44-35 comeback win at Kentucky and last week with W. Kentucky who covered the 29 points (when the selection was released in mid-week), as well as early Saturday morning for LTS clients in their back door (38-10) cover of the Tide. Today, we turn our attention to this Akron/Marshall matchup, which next week may find each of these teams qualifying for and against AFP plays (see Bowling Green analysis of this week).

Akron vs Marshall (-17)
2016 Football Selections on this site continue their solid start. Through Wednesday, September 14th, NFL selections are 6-2 ATS, while College selections are 10-5 ATS. That is good for a combined mark of 16-7 ATS (70%) winners!  Although selections may not continue at that torrid pace throughout the season, I assure you that, if you follow the advice embedded in my analyses this season, you will have a better chance to succeed in the point spread wars. Always remember to shop for value and to use the valuable resources at this site to put every edge in your favor this football season.

For 5th year HC Bowden, Akron is coming off a rare winning season at 8-5 SU, 8-4 ATS. Defensive improvement in the last 4 seasons is a reason for the Zips’ movement up the ladder to the plus side of the ledger. This year, however, it appears to be a return to normalcy for the Zips. They are 0-2 ATS with a win over VMI and a solid thumping by Wisconsin last week. Key reason for my anticipated demise of the program is the fact they have just 7 RS and none on their offensive line. Last week, they were outrushed 294-88 by the Badgers. Failing in the role of double digit dog is not unusual for this team. They enter today’s play on a 1-5 ATS slide, as double digit dog the last 2 seasons.  Though we are forced to lay a TD more because of the dichotomous start of Marshall, there is ample reason to believe the Thundering Herd will continue their positive momentum.

Under 7th year HC Holliday (the former WVU Asst.), the Herd has been upwardly mobile the recent 3 years. With 7 RS on the offensive side of the ball, they look to continue a run that has seen them go 33-8 SU, 24-14 ATS the previous 3 years. Most impressive has been their run on this field which sees them enter on a current streak of 12-4 ATS in the role of home chalk. In addition, HC Holliday does not shy away from the blowout. In the last 3 seasons, when laying more than 10 points, Holliday and the Herd are on a 15-6 ATS upward run. Marshall was one of 2 teams who took the week off September 3rd. But, in their September 10th home opener against outmanned Morgan St., the Herd began to again build momentum, running roughshod in a 62-0 victory as 42 point home favorite. They were a 200 Club winner and double rusher, using a (+3) net TO margin and a 530-222 yardage edge for the blowout. Look for that momentum to continue today, as they build confidence for their home contest with Louisville next week and this anticipated blowout in Huntingdon today. Holliday knows that IF IT AINT BROKE, DON’T FIX IT and has proven that he has been ultimately successful in this role the last 3 seasons. I invite you to put the College Football ODDS in your favor and join me in my College Football PICK on Marshall today!
