Kent St. visits Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for this Inter-division MAC showdown with the Central Michigan Chippewas. Joe Gavazzi, our expert handicapper, takes a look into the  NCAAF odds and makes his pick.

Kent St. vs Central Michigan (-15) Noon ET

It was the only meeting of the last 5 seasons between these inter-division teams.  While Kent continues to struggle, under 4th year HC Paul Haynes, the Chips are now making a resurgence under Bonamego.

In the first 3 years under Haynes, the Flashes were 9-26 SU, 11-22 ATS. Last year, the offense was pathetic, averaging just 13 PPG and 273 YPG. In the last 2 weeks, as the season has begun to slip away from Kent St., that offense has been problematic once again. Vs. mediocre teams in the East Division (Miami, OH and Ohio), they have averaged just 263 YPG.  They now stand 2-6 SU for the season with wins over only FCS Monmouth and the lowly Buffalo Bull.  With those consecutive losses, a 2-6 SU record, it has become obvious to Golden Flash players and coaches that they have now tossed the towel on yet another winning season.  And with no rivalry game remaining (they already lost at home to Akron), they figure to be playing out the string.

Today, they travel to play a Western Division MAC team. This year, the MAC West is clearly superior over their Eastern brethren.  For the year to date, when the MAC West faces the MAC East, they are 6-1 SU ATS. Today, after facing 4 teams from the West, as well as honing their skills against Power 5 teams Oklahoma St. and Virginia, they will look forward to stepping down in class vs. a lowly Kent team.  Last week, in their game against Toledo, they were competitive the entire game, until RB Spaulding fumbled at the goal line late in the contest  Nonetheless, they stand 5-3 SU for the season and CAN GET THEIR QUALIFYING BOWL VICTORY WITH THIS WIN . The Chips have become a far more competitive team under Bonamego, who honed his skills as a former Detroit Lions Special Teams Coordinator. Look for Central fans to be rewarded with CHEAP THRILLS, as the Chips pile on point after point against the Kent St. team, who will prove to be a Towel-Tosser in the 2nd half of this contest. I invite you to put the College Football ODDS in your favor and join me in my College Football PICK on C.
