Time is moving quickly and we’re already into week 3 of the NCAA College Football Season.

See who we think are the picks that present some betting value.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) at #6 Texas A&M Aggies (2-0)

Revenge Game

Even though Alabama won the BCS Championship again last season, this game has to be thought of as a revenge game as a loss to Texas A&M and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel last season was the only blemish on their resume in 2012-2013. The Tide get major respect here as a 7.5 point sports betting favorite on the road.

Alabama is coming off of a 35-10 win over Virginia Tech 2 weeks ago in which their special teams carried them. The Tide only accounted for 206 total yards and A.J. McCarron had a very poor showing for a player that is thought of as a Heisman candidate. The offense will need to kick it into gear or the Aggies and Johnny Football will hand them a loss for a 2nd consecutive year.

He’s Back

Johnny Manziel looks to make a 2nd consecutive run at the Heisman Trophy and more importantly, a run at the BCS Championship. He had no problem with a weak Sam Houston State team last week as he threw for 403 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT. The only thing that can stop him this week is the awesome defense that Alabama possesses.

I give the credit to ESPN in noting that Bama coach, Nick Saban, is 15-2 in avenging losses during his tenure with LSU and Alabama. That said, this game is a toss up and the 7.5 points are a gift for Texas A&M at home.

NCAA FB Pick: Take Texas A&M +7.5 on the spread at Bet365

Stanford Cardinal (1-0) at Army Black Knights (1-1)

The Option Again?

This is the way that Army has been conducting business for years and it hasn’t translated into many wins. We have to remember that most of these players aren’t going to West Point to play football and have a strenuous schedule. That said, they give a full effort every week.

This week Army hosts the #5 Stanford Cardinal and are expected to get blasted out of the building as a 29 point underdog at home in the college football odds. Stanford had an easy time of it last week against the San Jose State Spartans in a 34-13 victory. Junior quarterback Kevin Hogan had a solid game with no mistakes as Stanford was an amazing 12-for-15 on 3rd down conversions.

The Cardinal should be able to have their way with Army as the Black Knights don’t have much of a passing game with quarterback Angel Santiago running the option. Santiago is an undersized QB and you’ll see very little in the form of passing as his 3 for 11 for 49 yards with 1 INT against Ball State can attest to.

Stanford has a good running game with the combination of Tyler Gaffeny and senior Anthony Wilkerson and a reliable target in Ty Montgomery, but this isn’t a group of players with a tremendous amount of experience.

For my college football picks, I look to Stanford for the win, but look for the 29 points to hold up as the clock will keep ticking when Army is in possession of the football.

NCAA FB Pick: Bet Army +29 on the spread at Ladbrokes

Other Games

#4 Ohio State (2-0) -16 Over California (1-1)

We don’t really know who the best team in the nation is. Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has brought his success over to Columbus and the Buckeyes haven’t lost a game since he was hired. OSU faces a high powered offensive team in California, but the Golden Bears have a terrible defense, allowing 74 points in their first two games.

The question is “Will Braxton Miller be effective coming off of a knee sprain?”. After Miller left last week’s game against San Diego State, back QB, Kenny Guiton, filled in admirably as he threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for another touchdown.

California’s defense won’t be able to contain OSU as their quest for the BCS Championship continues.
