Wounded but Very Alive

Washington suffered their first loss of the season last week at #5 ranked Stanford 31-28 but covered as a 9-point underdog. It was a tough pill to swallow for the Huskies who outgained the Cardinal in the game by 489-279. Senior quarterback Keith Price had another terrific passing game going 33-48 for 350 yards and 2 touchdowns. Star running back Bishop Sankey was once again solid with 125 yards rushing on 27-carries. Ultimately the difference in the game was Stanford’s Ty Montgomery returning the opening kickoff 99-yards for a touchdown. The Washington defense may be the most underrated unit in the country. They’re 10th nationally in total defense allowing just 286.8 yards per game.

Dynamite Ducks

What can I say about the Oregon Ducks football program that hasn’t been said already? Try to comprehend these mind boggling numbers. The Ducks have gone 20-1 in their last 21, 30-2 the last 32, and 40-3 in the last 43 games. They’ve won 18 straight true road games. The Ducks are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 as a conference sports betting road favorite, including 5-0 ATS in the last 5 winning those games by a whopping 28 points per game. The offense is averaging 59.2 points and 630.6 yards per game this season. They’ve outscored opponents by an average of 47.4 points per game in their 5-0 start in addition to scoring 55-points or more in each of those contests. I’m exhausted from just reviewing those absolutely mind boggling numbers. Sophomore quarterback Marcus Mariota is a true Heisman Trophy candidate. Mariota has thrown for 1358 yards with 14 touchdowns and no picks in the first 5-games. The dual threat signal caller has also run for 338 yards and 7 touchdowns as well.

Final Analysis

It’s difficult to go against Oregon considering the closest game they’ve had so far was their 55-16 win over California. However, the Huskies do have the ingredients to make this game a lot more interesting than most would thing. Washington has won 14 of their last 16 at home and is outstanding defensively. They also have the kind of balanced offensive attack which is the best Oregon will have seen to this point of the season. I like the Washington Huskies plus the points in this contest for my college football picks.
