With time ticking down to the first major bowl of the season, the Orange Bowl, we have seen the total really take a dive, which is not completely unexpected given how these defenses can play.

Michigan opened as a touchdown favorite and the betting market has stayed right on that number since. Where the college football odds changed was on the total, shifted from 56.5 or 57 depending on the sportsbook, to 52.5.

For the season, Michigan has been one of the best defenses teams in the country all year and conceded only 12.5 points per game. Florida State had their issues early, but only permitted 13.5 PPG the last quarter of the season.

Besides this we also have some other numbers worth noting, like Florida State did a number in the road whites with 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS marks. Despite Michigan's success, they were only 2-2 SU and ATS as the away outfit. The Wolverines are unpleasant 2-4-2 ATS when wearing a bowl decal on their uniforms since 2005. After covering nine bowls in a row, Florida State in 0-3 ATS negative trend.

At last look, betting trends find the side and total almost dead even on both, with more supposed sharp action on the Seminoles.

In my original article here at, I chose Michigan 27-17, thus, I will stick with the Wolverines and UNDER as my selections.
