We’re going to examine Wednesday’s game between Central Michigan and Kent State. Go inside to read our insightful betting preview article on this game, and it concludes with a college football pick.

Wednesday Night in the MAC
Kent State will host Central Michigan on a Wednesday night game in the Mid American Conference. The opening kickoff at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio is slated for 8:00 PM ET. The game will be aired live on ESPNU. Current (11/17) college football odds at Bookmaker show Central Michigan as a 10.5 point road favorite, and they have a posted total of 41.0. In a real scheduling quirk, these MAC teams haven’t met since 2011, and this will be only the second time they faced each other since 2007.

Deceiving Record for Chippewas
Central Michigan enters this week with a mediocre 5-5 record. However, looking inside the numbers clearly indicates to me this a much better team than their record indicates. Two of their losses came to Michigan State (9-1) and Oklahoma State (10-0). Those teams are still very much in the running for a college football playoff berth on New Year’s Eve. The Chippewas other three defeats were against Toledo, Western Michigan, and Syracuse. Those losses all were by 5 points or less. Central Michigan has been a huge money maker this season, covering their first seven games, and have gone 8-2 ATS on the year.

Anemic Offense
Kent State hasn’t only lost their last three games in a row, they’ve been held scoreless in two of those contests. As a matter of fact, the Golden Flashes have scored 17 points or less in each of their previous five contests, and they’re averaging a paltry 14.3 points per game in 2015. It should then come as no surprise that they’ve gone under the total in all six of their conference games, and averaged a pathetic 9.8 points scored per contest.

Final Analysis & An Opinion Pick
Let me start by saying, this isn’t a game that I’ll be personally be wagering on. The three wins by Kent State this season have come against Delaware State, Miami-Ohio, and Massachusetts. Heading into this week’s action, those teams have a combined record of 4-27 (.129). I very seldom lean toward laying points on the road, and especially so when it’s a double digit number. If you opt to use this game for one of your college football picks this week, in my opinion, the road favorite is the lesser of two evils.
