We’re going to examine Saturday’s ACC clash between Georgia Tech and Clemson. Go inside to read our compelling betting preview article on this contest which culminates with a point spread pick.

Yellow Jackets Look to Upset #6 Tigers
Clemson (4-0) will host Georgia Tech (2-3) on Saturday in an ACC battle. The opening kickoff at Clemson Memorial Stadium is slated for 3:30 PM ET. According to current (10/6) college football betting odds, Clemson is a 6.5 to 7.0 point favorite, and the posted total ranges from 54.0 to 54.5. Georgia Tech defeated Clemson as a 2.0 point home underdog last season by the score of 28-6. The Yellow Jackets have lost their last three trips to “Death Valley” in Clemson, South Carolina.

Desperation and Urgency
Georgia Tech went from being rated #16 nationally to a team with a losing record, and all in just three weeks time. They enter this ACC matchup on Saturday riding a three game losing streak, including a 0-2 start in ACC action. The Yellow Jackets vaunted triple option rushing attack has been slowed by their standards during this dismal three game stretch. After rushing for a combined 915 yards (8.5 YPA) in their two wins to open the season over Alcorn State and Tulane, they’ve accounted for a combined 644 yards (3.9 YPA) in the previous three games. That would be outstanding rushing numbers for the vast majority of teams. However, not for Georgia Tech, considering they’ve run the ball on 77% of their offensive plays this season, and aren’t built to pass 20 or more times a game like they’ve had to do in each of their last three. They have an opportunity on Saturday to save their season by upsetting #6 Clemson.

Danger Zone for Tigers
The Clemson Tigers are coming off a thrilling 24-22 home win last Saturday versus then #6 ranked Notre Dame. The defense had to stop a two point conversion by Notre Dame in the closing seconds, and then recovered an ensuing onside kick to seal a heart throbbing win. Now after coming off such an emotional victory, they must host an opponent (Georgia Tech) on a three game losing streak, and one in which was manhandled by Notre Dame earlier this season. It’s only human nature that their intensity level will be nowhere near what it was a week ago. The handicapping conundrum then becomes, how much of a letdown will Clemson suffer in this contest, and will it affect the outcome versus an opponent that’s lacking confidence at this juncture?

Final Analysis
There’s no doubt in my mind that Clemson is a quality football team, and one well deserving of their current ranking. I also firmly believe that Georgia Tech is a much better than their 2-3 start would suggest. Then you must consider the oddity of this point spread. The #6 team in the country is just a touchdown favorite at home versus an opponent that’s lost each of their last three games. If it looks too good to be true then it normally is. I like the road underdog in this contest for one of my college football picks on Saturday. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see an outright upset, but won’t pass up taking the points as an additional bonus.

College Football Pick: Play on Georgia Tech +7.0 (-105) at Heritage.
