Pace of play will be there and both defenses will be overmatched in the desert. Join expert capper for his college football week 4 pick in this PAC 12 showdown.

The Arizona State Sun Devils host the California Golden Bears Saturday night in Tempe Arizona. This is a key cross-division PAC 12 showdown that looks to be an offensive spectacle. Each of these west coast teams has relied on their superior offensive units to outscore their opponent’s thus far in 2016. Both CAL and ASU have had major issues when it comes to stopping talented offenses, similar to what each will face on college football’s Saturday night cap on ESPN 2.

The Golden Bear QB Davis Webb threw for 396 yards’ vs Texas last week and that was his lowest output this year. He will be facing a Sun Devil defense that is susceptible to the pass. Arizona State so far this year defensively is surrendering 379.3 passing yards per game. Sonny Dykes up-tempo offense will look to do the same thing against ASU as they did to the Texas Longhorn defense this past week. It’s been done to Arizona State already this year, just two weeks ago Texas Tech put up 55 points utilizing a similar air raid system led by QB Patrick Mahomes.

California has a dynamite offense that lights up the scoreboard, but they are one of the worst on the defensive side of the ball. CAL is giving up an average of 40 points per game. That includes an overwhelmed Hawaii team and a San Diego State offensive unit who is more concerned with controlling clock, rather than pushing the pace. The Golden Bear defense struggles tackling and that is something this Arizona State offense will exploit. The Sun Devils have playmakers all over the field and an athletic QB in Manny Wilkins. ASU has the weaponry both at tailback and receiver to launch a full assault on one of the worst tackling defenses in the country. Led by receivers Tim White and N'Keal Harry, ASU will have the chance to extend plenty of explosive plays on Saturday.

Final Analysis
Most importantly, the late night affair in Tempe will not lack pace of play. Both CAL and Arizona State like to play up-tempo, with ASU averaging 85 plays per game and CAL averaging 90 plays per game. Saturday Nights night cap will be entertaining, to say the least, and I believe that market is a bit short on the total set at 82.5 with reduced juice at Heritage Sportsbook, now offering an incredible sign-up bonus.
