Week 9 is here, and it’s easy for bettors to think that they have a better feel for various college football picks than they did at the beginning of the season. Here are our predictions for Saturday.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Virginia Cavaliers - Odds: Georgia Tech -6
The key point to make here is that Georgia Tech is coming off a draining and highly emotional win over Florida State. That game will give the Yellow Jackets a lot of confidence, but it was very demanding, and it’s going to be hard for the Yellow Jackets to play with the same level of emotion in this road game at Virginia. Georgia Tech should be able to win this game, because quarterback Justin Thomas is an experienced on-field leader and because Virginia is notorious for failing to finish off very close games in which it has a great chance to win. However, while Georgia Tech should win outright, the game feels precarious enough that Virginia will stay close and eventually cover the number for your college football picks.

South Florida Bulls vs. Navy Midshipmen - Odds: Navy -7
This is a game in which the key is to determine how effective South Florida’s defensive scheme will be. Tulane, a team that is clearly weaker than South Florida, was able to load up the tackle box with defenders to take away the running game of Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds. Tulane held Reynolds to just 38 yards rushing on 23 carries. Navy really could not figure out how to run the ball against the Green Wave. Navy was held under 140 rushing yards, which is really low when you realize that Navy entered the game against Tulane averaging over 325 rushing yards per game. A lot of people think that South Florida can control the line of scrimmage enough to make Navy sweat in this game. However, the other side of things is that South Florida will have to score on Navy’s defense, which has been very solid throughout the season. Maybe Navy will score a modest total of 24 points. Yet, how will South Florida score? Navy should still cover the college football odds.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers - Odds: Michigan -14
It’s true that Michigan could experience a hangover after its miserable loss to Michigan State, a game the Wolverines were leading with 10 seconds left but then squandered when a dropped punt snap and a bobbled attempt at a recovery led to a Michigan State touchdown on the game’s final play. Michigan might still think about that in its game against Minnesota, and that’s why this could collapse for the Wolverines. However, Minnesota just watched head coach Jerry Kill retire due to health problems. The Golden Gophers have been receiving terrible quarterback play all season. Michigan should still be able to pound Minnesota by a large margin, at least 20 points.
