The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are technically the home team, but they play Boston College in Boston at Fenway Park this Saturday night. Check our free college football pick inside.

The Boston College offense and the team in general have no momentum to speak of. Boston College scored just eight points in its most recent game on Nov. 7 against North Carolina State. The Eagles have been tormented by injuries this season, but the fact that they have not been able to rebound on offense after these injuries speaks to how little depth they have on their roster. Steve Addazio has not been able to recruit to the point that he has depth at each offensive position. Losing running back Andre Williams to graduation has left this program and this offense hamstrung to a degree that leaves the Eagles very uncomfortable.

The struggles of Boston College with depth and offensive production are highlighted by how Notre Dame has been able to overcome depth issues on offense and defense this season. The Fighting Irish have overcome a loss to their starting quarterback, Malik Zaire. DeShone Kizer has filled in well. Tarean Folston went down at running back, but C.J. Prosise has been able to step in and perform at a high level. The team has lost multiple tight ends. It has lost key interior defensive linemen and also defensive backs. Through it all, this team has found answers further down the depth chart at various positions on both offense and defense. The Fighting Irish didn’t play great on offense last week, but they didn’t need to. Their defense easily shut down Wake Forest in a comfortable win – it wasn’t a massive blowout, but it was not a case in which this team was sweating at any point in the second half. Notre Dame knows this is a bigger game. Expect the Irish to be ready for it.

Line Moves
The college football odds started with Notre Dame as a 17-point favorite, and that line has moved down to 16.5. Boston College will treat this rivalry game as a very important thing, so bettors feel that some defensive energy from the Eagles could keep this game a little closer.

Notable Injuries
Boston College quarterback Jeff Smith is questionable for this game with a concussion. Defensive back Isaac Yiadom is questionable with a shoulder injury. Running back Tyler Rouse is questionable with a concussion. Running back Marcus Outlow is questionable with a rib injury. Cornerback Kamrin Moore is out for the season due to a leg injury. Running back Jon Hillman is out for the season with a foot injury. Quarterback Darius Wade is out for the season with an ankle injury. Tight end Michael Giacone is out for the season with a leg injury.

Notre Dame has defensive back Drue Tranquill out for the season with an ACL injury. Running back C.J. Prosise is probable for this game with a head injury. Defensive lineman Daniel Cage is probable for this game with an undisclosed condition. Linebacker James Onwualu is doubtful for this game with a knee injury. Wide receiver Chris Brown is expected to miss this game with a shoulder injury. Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury. Offensive lineman Alex Bars is out for the season with an ankle injury.  The Irish have some other injuries listed from August.

Handicapping The Game
Notre Dame is not in danger of losing this game, but the Irish might not play well on offense against Boston College’s respectable defense. The Irish might win this game 24-10. Take Boston College with your college football picks.
