Red Raiders invade Norman on Saturday
The #17 Oklahoma Sooners host Texas Tech on Saturday in BIG-12 action. The opening kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Norman is slated for 3:30 PM ET. According to college football odds at, Oklahoma is a 14 point favorite, and the posted total is 73.5. Oklahoma has defeated Texas Tech the last three years in a row, and each of those games went over the total.

NCAA Arena Football
There’s no other team in the country that has consistent final scores more emulating of Arena League Football League games than Texas Tech. The Red Raiders games this season have averaged a combined total of 86.3 points scored per contest. The good news is that their offense accounts for 49.4 of those points. The bad news, their defense has allowed 36.9 points and 558.4 yards per game. Texas Tech also will be facing the toughest defense they’ve encountered up to this point of the season. The Sooners defense allows just 18.8 points and 321.7 yards per game. Texas Tech struggled last week against winless Kansas before pulling away late for a 30-20 win. The Red Raiders were a 33.0 point favorite in that game, and were never remotely close to covering.

Outstanding Bounce Back by Sooners
Oklahoma rebounded nicely last Saturday from their upset loss to Texas the week before. They went on the road, and as a 4.0 point favorite, proceeded to crush a pretty good Kansas State team 55-0. That was the same Kansas State team that blew an 18 point halftime lead to #3 TCU in the game before taking on Oklahoma, and lost 52-45. The Sooners defense held Kansas State to a mere 110 yards while racking up 558 yards of total offense themselves.

Final Analysis
There’s not a defense in the country that can stop Texas Tech’s offense completely. However, Oklahoma will be able to get enough defensive stops, and their offense will have their way against an extremely porous Red Raiders defense. I’m going to have a lean towards the home favorite for one of my college football picks.
