In last week’s Crusher Of The Week, which appeared on this very site, the Toledo Rockets responded to my command to crush lowly Fresno St. by a count of 52-17 with a 619-254 yardage advantage.  It will be no surprise if the results of this Iowa at Rutgers Big 10 Conference game, has a similar result.

Week 4 of the College Football season is traditionally the first strong week of the season.  This year is no exception, as it is the strongest and deepest card of the season to date. This analysis is much more exciting, not that it has been bad so far with selections on this site for the year to date standing 16-7 ATS (70%) in CFB and NFL combined. As always we can check the list of best sportsbooks before betting.

Iowa Hawkeyes vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Last week, Rutgers trailed New Mexico (21-0) after the first quarter, before rallying for 28 unanswered in an eventual (37-28) victory.  A closer look at the box score reveals they were outgained 462-350.  A better comparison might be the Scarlet Knights’ loss at Washington (a team of a similar ilk to Iowa) by a score of 48-13.  The Scarlet Knights, after a 4-8 SU ATS season of last, will make little headway under 1st year HC Ash (the former DC at Ohio St.).  They remain several good recruiting years away from the turnaround.  Today, they are quite simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, as they will soon fall to 1-9 ATS as the conference dog of more than a TD.

Iowa’s administration made the egregious error of scheduling N. Dakota St.  Clearly, they did not take seriously the fact that the Bison entered Iowa City with 5 consecutive wins vs. FBS foes.  The Hawkeyes became the 6th consecutive victim of the Bison by a score of 23 - 21 when they were outrushed 239-34.  Look for a bounce back today in what has been an ideal role for the Hawkeyes under 18th year HC Ferentz. That is true because in the last 3 years, Iowa (under Ferentz), is now a perfect 9-0 ATS as road favorite of 2 or more points.  Taking to the road, away from the pressure of the home fans, will be a positive for Iowa, as they dominate arguably the worst team in the Big 10 and restore their confidence prior to the heart of the Big 10 season ahead.

I invite you to put the college football odds in your favor and join me in my college football prediction on Iowa this afternoon.
