There’s nothing like getting free money, and it looks like the books are giving some away for Saturday’s game between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Stanford Cardinal.

College football is a wonderful world. This is the Wild West of sports, with hundreds of teams in action every week doing all sorts of crazy stuff. If you’re an intrepid sports bettor, you can usually find some bargains on the NCAAF odds board – you just have to do a little prospecting. Panning for gold, as it were.

Gold! Check out Saturday’s game (4:00 p.m. ET, PAC12) between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Stanford Cardinal. At press time, you can get the Sun Devils as +732 road dogs on the moneyline, and you can also get Stanford at –580. God bless America. God bless college football. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, betting both sides will guarantee you a profit for your NCAAF picks, assuming the game doesn’t get canceled by an earthquake or something.

People of the Sun

That’s if you bet the right amounts on each team. Enter the SBR Arbitrage Calculator: Type in those two moneylines, watch the gears turn, and presto, it says you’ll lock in $3.15 in profit by betting $100 on the Cardinal and $14.09 on the Sun Devils. That’s a return of 2.76 percent. No advanced football degree required.

It’s also the only arbitrage play of note that we can see at press time. There’s a very small play available in Sunday’s game (10:30 p.m. ET, FS1) between the California Golden Bears and the Oregon Ducks, but it’s hardly worth mentioning: You can get the Bears as +527 road dogs and the Ducks at –520. Betting $100 on Cal and $19.02 on Oregon will net you all of 21 cents, or 0.18 percent.

Free money is nice and all, but it does take a certain amount of time to load up your sportsbooks and enter your bets. Let’s say around two minutes, just for funsies. Are you willing to be paid about $6 an hour to bet on football? Then go ahead and bet both sides of that Cal-Oregon game. We’ll stick with something closer to $100 an hour here at the home office.
