Saturday night will be rocking as the undefeated #19 Nebraska Cornhuskers visit the #10 Michigan State Spartans in a Big Ten matchup that should be filled with offense. Both teams are coming off of monster games and average over 500 yards of offense apiece per contest. Stand by as we assess this game and provide you with our free college football picks.

Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. EST on Saturday in front of a live audience on ABC television. This batte of two powerhouses will be played at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Michigan. Weather won't be a factor to stop these high powered running games.

Can Nebraska Remain Undefeated?
Most A+ rated sportsbooks on have the Spartans listed as a touchdown favorite on the college football odds page and the betting total for the game is 59.5. A win here would propel the undefeated Cornhuskers into the top 10 in the AP Poll and set them up quite nicely for the remaining games on their schedule  and a possible shot at the Rose Bowl. I know that we're looking a bit far ahead. First, Nebraska muct get past the Spartans who are coming off of a 56-14 win over Wyoming.

Heisman Hopeful
Both of these teams mirror eachother in having formidable defenses, strong running games, and a strong quarterback that can come through in clutch situations, but the Huskers possess one of the best backs in the nation in senior Ameer Abdullah and that should be the difference in this contest.

Abdullah has just about reached his touchdown output of last season on the ground and through the air and we are only going into week 5 of the 2014 NCAA Football Season. Abdullah, at just 5 foot 9, 195 pound isn't imposing in stature, but the numbers say it all. He's gotten better as the season has progressed and is coming off of 2 straight 200 plus yard rushing games against two respectable squads in the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Illinois Fighting Illini. This is a seasoned veteran and Michigan State's defense isn't as good as it's been in previous years. I see no reason why Abdullah can't put up another 200 yard rushing game esepecially with all eyes watching him on national television.

Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. is a threat in himself for the Huskers. Although he isn't the most accurate passer, he doesn't commit turnovers and is the 2nd leading rusher on this team with a very respectable 8.2 yards per carry. Armstrong likes to throw the deep ball to Kenny Bell and Jordan Westerkamp who both average around 20 yards per catch. Michigan State will have their hands full in this matchup.

50.3 Points Per Game!
Let's not get too carried away as the Badgers schedule has been a great barometer for where they're at in the season. They've been tested once by Marcus Mariotta and the Oregon Ducks and came up short, 46-27 and they've just torn apart the remaining teams that they've played.

The Badgers are averaging 64.5 points per game in their last two games, but we have to remember that this is against a couple of cupcakes in Eastern Michigan and Wyoming. With all of that said, losing early in the season is the best time to lose a game where bowl games and rankings are concerned. A win over Nebraska, even at home, would be huge for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Big Game Player
I measure the quality of a player in how they come up in the big games. WIde receiver Tony Lippett is a perfect example of this. Lippett's production has been limited in Wisconsin's last two games as their second team saw a lot of action in those blowouts, but Lippett came up with a huge game in the loss to Oregon in which he caught 11 passes for 133 yards and 1 touchdown. Connor Cook and the Badgers offense will be relying heavily on the senior from Detroit, Michigan. Look for a big game out of Lippett against a good but not great Huskers secondary.

Outcome
This should be a close game. Both teams have a lot at stake as the Cornhuskers want to remain undefeated and the Badgers can ill-afford to pick up a 2nd loss this early in the season. Expect a high scoring affair as both offenses have been dominant thus far. I like the over, but 7 points is too much to give to a team that possesses the best player in this game in Ameer Abdullah. For your college football picks take the 7 points and consider it a gift.
