Marshall is the superior team as the college football odds indicate, but a "W" here would also look good on Kent State's resume. Are they up for the task? See who we like as our betting pick.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 26th at Dix Stadium in Kent Ohio. According to 5Dimes, Marshall is a legitimate 9-point betting favorite on the college football odds board and the total for the game is listed at 52.5 points. This game can be seen on ESPN 3.

A win on the road would be huge for the Marshall Thundering Herd as they look to go 3-1. They will face the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-2), who possess a very ineffective offense.

Birdsong Listed As Doubtful
Marshall starting quarterback, Michael Birdsong has been listed as doubtful for this game, but the Thundering Herd are lucky enough to have a double threat, as freshman Chase Litton, has come in and did the job.

Granted, the opponent was Norfolk State but Litton, a 6 foot 6 freshman, came through like a champ in his first moments of playing time at the collegiate level as the went 24 for 31 for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns. Those are a huge numbers for any quarterback against any team at this level. On Saturday, Litton might not put up the same numbers, but I don't expect a major decline as Marshall is the superior team, but playing on the road could have somewhat of an effect. Only time will tell.

The Difference in the Game
Litton will have a ton of offensive options as senior, Devon Johnson is a beast that could see action in the NFL. Last season, Johnson rushed for 1767 yards and 17 touchdowns and has continued the onslaught as he's rushed for 381 yards and 3 TD's in the first 3 games of the 2015 season.

Johnson has rushed for 100 yards or more in each game this season and has also reached the endzone in each respective game. He should be the difference in the game and will really be of great assistance to Litton due to his experience.

Chase Litton will also have receiving options, Justin Hunt (93 yards 1 TD) and DeAndre Reaves (82 yards, 2 TD) as this is a receiving core that is very deep. Expect the Golden Flashes defense to have difficulties in this game containing Johnson and a confident passing offense, led by Chase Litton.

Nick Holley
On the Kent State side of the football, the concern is about the status of leading running back, Nate Holley, Holley is suffering from an injured hip, but it's been updated that he's been feeling better. That certainly is good news for the Golden Flashes as Holley (133 yards) is one of the leaders of an ineffective offense.

Talking about ineffectiveness, Kent State starting quarterback, Colin Reardon has managed just a 46.2% completion rate and will need to improve upon that. In his last game, Reardon was a dismal 10 for 28 for just 63 yards against Minnesota. Waiting in the wings is freshman Geroge Bollas and Bollas has had success in his limited time playing this season.

I don't see a ton of points being scored in this game as Marshall should take apart Kent State, who is a rather ineffective team offensively. 52.5 points are simply too much here.
