Public perception of Alabama’s football program is at its lowest point in years, which is why college football handicappers should lay the points against Texas A&M Saturday.

A Long Stretch
Texas A&M is going to have a difficult time snapping a two-game losing streak, as its first opportunity to rest during the 2014 campaign doesn’t come until next week, as it comes off a 35-20 setback to the Ole Miss Rebels as 2.5-point home favorites last Saturday.

The Aggies have covered the number in both meetings against the Crimson Tide since becoming a member of the Southeastern Conference, which can’t be ignored when making your college football picks, but they played each of those affairs with Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 2-6 SU and 3-5 ATS as underdogs, with the UNDER going 5-3 in that situation.

Simply Winning Isn’t Enough
The lofty expectations in Tuscaloosa are starting to drive Alabama head coach Nick Saban crazy, as he had to field questions concerning why his team earned just a one-point road victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 7.

The Crimson Tide land in an advantageous spot to clean things up on the field, as they prepare to play their only contest at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a five-game span.

It’s important to point out that the team is 8-2 SUATS as favorites of 10.5 to 21 points since the start of the 2012 season.

Stopping the Run
The Aggies defense may wear down in the final quarter of this matchup, which is important to consider when looking over the NCAA football odds, as their opponents have combined for 133 rushing attempts the last three weeks.

Texas A&M’s defense has forced opponents to face just 21 third-down opportunities in the final two weeks, which is a signal that it isn’t creating negative plays on that side of the football.

Plenty of Offense
The Alabama Crimson Tide are setting a record-setting pace with 3,000 yards of total offense in their first six games under first-year coordinator Lane Kiffin, with their rushing and passing attack ranked 30th and 28th nationally respectively.

Alabama will have an opportunity to control the football in this matchup, as it sits behind just 13 teams in averaging 33:13 in time of possession, while its defense paces the SEC in surrendering just 277.2 yards per game.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Crimson Tide as one of their top betting selections, as they’ve covered the number in 11 of their last 14 games in the month of October.
