The season is moving to the end of October, and as a result, have college football picks that are more settled on offense and defense. Here are three over-under free picks on Saturday’s card.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Wisconsin Badgers - Odds: 51.5
This is a game in which the Wisconsin Badgers have a different situation at quarterback than what they faced over a week ago. Joel Stave got injured against Illinois, and Bart Houston had to step in and take his place. Wisconsin scored only 24 points for the game, but all things considered, the inexperienced Houston showed a lot of poise and did not make big mistakes. He calmly guided the offense to an 11-point win, trusting in his defense to win the game. Keep in mind that Wisconsin is trying to gently get Corey Clement, its featured running back, into the lineup. He’s been injured and has missed the past several weeks, and is questionable for this game against Rutgers. It is hard to see how Wisconsin will score a ton of points without a full-strength, full-speed version of Clement. The Badgers do not appear likely to score anything more than 31 points. If that’s the case, a Rutgers offense which got shut down by Ohio State should not score a lot more against Wisconsin’s defense, which has been reliable for the Badgers all year. Wisconsin’s home loss to Iowa was entirely on the offense. The defense gave up only 10 points in that game. This seems like a game in which the over has a very low chance of happening. Take the under with your college football picks.

Maryland Terrapins vs. Iowa Hawkeyes - Odds: 53.5
The big thing to note in this game is that Iowa has a defense that is playing really well. Maryland might have scored 30 points last week against Penn State, but the Terrapins will not face a similarly vulnerable defense this week in Iowa City. Maryland probably won’t score more than 17 points, and very possibly only 10. Iowa exploded in its 40-10 win over Northwestern, but don’t expect that to happen again. Jordan Canzeri, the team’s best running back, got injured in that Northwestern game, and so it’s a question if Iowa has the consistency on offense to score big. It’s true that backup running back Akrum Wadley filled in for Canzeri against Northwestern and rushed for over 200 yards, but can he do that regularly? He probably won’t. Expect the under here for the college football odds.

USC Trojans vs. California Golden Bears - Odds: 69.5
It’s true that Cal quarterback Jared Goff has played poorly in recent weeks, and it’s also true that USC’s 42 points against Utah were set up in part by three interceptions from one player, Cameron Smith. Yet, these offenses are extremely talented, and Cal’s defense is noticeably weak. USC’s defense is inconsistent. This sets up well for the over.
