The bowl season is working toward the bigger games, but on Wednesday, it’s a selection of 3 college football picks which will get a modest amount of interest from most fans.

Auburn Tigers vs. Memphis Tigers
This is a game in which there is coaching chaos and confusion on both sides. For Memphis, coach Justin Fuente has departed for Virginia Tech, where he is trying to turn the Hokies into a strong team again after the past few years witnessed a decline in performance. Not having Fuente could be seen as a disadvantage for the Tigers of the American Athletic Conference.

The Tigers of the SEC are the Auburn Tigers, and their coaching situation is in turmoil because the team does not have a defensive coordinator. Will Muschamp left to become the new head coach at South Carolina. Auburn has had trouble filling that defensive coordinator spot, so it’s going to be a committee effort from the remaining defensive coaches. Auburn will be motivated to win this game because head coach Gus Malzahn needs to show improvement heading into the offseason. Everyone knows the players have to play better in order for the program to turn around. However, the lack of organization on defense is something Memphis should be able to take advantage of. Quarterback Paxton Lynch should have a big day for Memphis. Take UM over Auburn on the college football odds.

North Carolina State Wolfpack vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
The key point to make here is that a current SEC quarterback is going up against a former one. Dak Prescott of Mississippi State has stayed in the conference, while former Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett moved to the ACC to play for North Carolina State. Both players are very talented, but Prescott has seen SEC competition this season, and while the SEC was not that great a conference in general, it is still the case that the SEC has faster linebackers and defensive linemen than most conferences. It’s a situation in which Prescott is much more likely to make big plays than Brissett is. Take Mississippi State for that reason.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. USC Trojans
This is a game in which the main thing to note is that both coaching staffs are trying to figure things out on the fly. Clay Helton was the interim coach for USC this season, but he was named the permanent head coach late in the season after he won the Pac-12 South Division championship. Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst is winding up his first season. He did not win a division title. Both coaching staffs have a lot to prove, and this game will give both USC and Wisconsin a chance to walk away from 2015 with a big win. USC has the better athletes on offense. Wisconsin’s passing game is probably too inconsistent to beat USC’s average defense. Take USC with your college football picks.
