The college football season moves into the second weekend of October, and you can feel the intensity growing. You’ll see in these three day games on the Saturday card.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. LSU Tigers (In Baton Rouge)
Odds:
LSU -18.5
This is a game in which the venue has been switched. South Carolina was originally supposed to host this game at noon Eastern time on Saturday, but the relentless and severe flooding in the state of South Carolina has forced this game to be moved to LSU’s home stadium. LSU might not technically be the home team, since South Carolina has choice of uniform for this game (it will wear white, forcing LSU to wear purple, which it rarely does for its home games) and has some rights to tickets. However, the game is in LSU’s home stadium, and that won’t change. South Carolina will have to travel for a game in which it originally expected to play at home before a boisterous and supportive crowd. This abrupt change has to make LSU feel really good and South Carolina feel terrible. The Gamecocks have been suffering through a miserable season marked by injuries, poor play, and youth at important positions such as quarterback. They were already in big trouble against LSU and Heisman Trophy leader Leonard Fournette, but now, as a result of having to travel and play in LSU’s stadium, the Gamecocks are that much more in a difficult position. This feels like a game LSU will win in a romp, even though the Tigers don’t have much of a passing game. They probably won’t need it, and they should be able to shut down South Carolina’s offense all day long, in what will be a 3:30 Eastern start.

Iowa State Cyclones vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Odds:
Texas Tech -11.5
The Texas Tech Red Raiders lost by 28 points to Baylor last week, surrendering 63 points in the process and giving up 49 points in the first half alone. Those kinds of numbers can scare bettors, but one has to remember that Baylor is the two-time defending champion in the Big 12, an excellent team. The Bears are going to humiliate a lot of teams, and Texas Tech – exhausted from playing a close game against TCU the week before – was not in a position to mount much of a defense. The Red Raiders either needed a bye week, a cupcake game… or an easier conference game such as this one. Well, they’ll get that game right now. Iowa State is better than Kansas – the Cyclones took care of the Jayhawks this past weekend. However, Kansas is the only Big 12 team ISU will be able to look down on this season. This is a matchup in which Texas Tech, banged up though it might be, should dominate and cover the College Football Odds.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Clemson Tigers
Odds: Clemson -7
It’s a matchup of the two teams predicted to face off in the ACC Championship Game before this season began. One team has lived up to the hype, and the other has done exactly the opposite. Clemson is coming off a thrilling and physical 24-22 win over Notre Dame in which its defensive front won the key battle against Notre Dame’s offensive line. Georgia Tech just blew a 21-point lead at home against North Carolina, a team it had not lost to at home since 1997. Georgia Tech is too weak on both the offensive and defensive lines to stand up to Clemson. Take the Tigers with your College Football Picks.
