#13 Baylor Bears get a major break in the schedule this week as they face an Iowa State Cyclones squad that hasn't fared so well this season. Will this trend continue as the Bears are a 16 1/2 point betting favorite on the road?

As stated before the Bears are a 16 1/2 point betting favorite and the total is listed at 60, according to 5Dimes Sportsbook. The college football odds appear a bit low, but Iowa State's 44-10 defeat of San Jose State in their most recent game definitely has an influence on the odds. In Iowa State's biggest matchup to date this season, they were handled quite easily by the Iowa Hawkeyes 42-3. Baylor is at a much higher level than San Jose State. The question is, Can the Cyclones build off of their first win of the season?

Mass Production On Offense
That's what the Baylor Bears provide as they're averaging 42 points per game and 548.8 yards in total offense. Baylor has also been quite stingy on the defensive side of the football, allowing just 310 total yards per game. With Baylor, it all starts with the outstanding play of their offensive line, which has only allowed 2 sacks this season, and the play of senior quarterback, Seth Russell.

K.D. Cannon Listed As Questionable
For the season, Russell has 1148 yards passing with 13 TD's and 4 INT's. He's coming off of two consecutive 300-yard passing games with his biggest game of the season being his last in which he threw for 387 yards and 4 TD's in a 35-24 win over Oklahoma State. In the game against OSU, Russell also proved that he can be a double threat as he ran the football for 65 yards. Iowa State is a team that has difficulties in scoring points and with receivers such as K.D. Cannon at his disposal, Russell should have no problem in dealing with Iowa State.

The problem is the status of Cannon, who left last week's game with a groin injury. In the game previous to the OSU game, Cannon dominated with 9 receptions for 213 yards receiving and 2 TD's. It would be a big blow for Baylor if Cannon was unable to play as he's currently listed as 'questionable'.

If Cannon is unable to play, look for Seth Russell to target receiver, Chris Platt. Platt is coming off of a 114 yard, 1 TD effort against OSU and is the 2nd leading receiver on the team. While Cannon's ability to play won't have an effect on the winner of this game, it might have an effect on which team covers.

Allen Lazard
While Cyclone starting quarterback, Joel Lanning might not be a big-time passer (605 yards, 5 TD, 3 INT), wide receiver, Allen Lazard is a big play receiver that the Baylor defense will definitely have to focus in on.

Lazard is coming off of a near 1000 yard season last year and has started off the 2016 NCAA Football Season in grand fashion despite his team being unsuccessful. Lazard has caught for 295 yards and 2 TDs. That said, he started off the season like lightning bolt with 2 consecutive 100-yard receiving games, but has since tailed off in his last 2 games. Iowa State need's Lazard to come up big for them to keep this game close.

The Cyclones have managed just 3 rushing touchdowns this season, but one thing that they can take away from the running game has been the outstanding play of running back, Mike Warren. In his last 2 games. Warren has rushed for 198 yards and 1 TD combined. ISU might attempt to focus on the running game with Warren and bleed the clock.

While the status of K.D. Cannon does concern me, Baylor is the far superior team and 16 1/2 points isn't a lot to lay in this game.
