The Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys are known as offensive-minded teams around the country, but they may get defensive when meeting up Saturday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the college football odds for this Big 12 Conference matchup at Boone Pickens Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Baylor has not lost in more than one calendar year and owns a school-record 13-game winning streak, which includes a 63-34 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders as 27.5-point favorites last Saturday.

The Bears have won the statistical battle in all nine of their games, including eight by 221 or more yards.

Offensively, the team leads college football in averaging 61.2 points and 684.8 yards per game, while its starting defense has given up just 14 touchdowns.

Oklahoma State has won six games in a row, including a 38-13 victory over the Texas Longhorns as three-point road favorites in Week 12, while going UNDER the betting total in its last two affairs.

The Cowboys are 16-1 SU in their last 17 games at this venue, while they seek their 11th consecutive home win in this particular series.

A surprising statistic

College football handicappers are expecting an absolute shootout in primetime between these two teams, but it’s important to point out that both defensive units rank in the Top 10 nationally in yards per play allowed.

Michigan State gets all the notoriety for leading college football in allowing 3.75 yards per play, but Baylor (4.22) and Oklahoma State (4.66) are fourth and ninth respectively in that all-important category.

There’s no doubt that turnovers will play a big part in deciding the outcome of this high-profile matchup, considering the Cowboys have won or tied in this battle in 18 of their last 21 games, while the Bears have forced multiple turnovers in 12 of their last 16 contests.

Baylor has won 22 of its last 24 games when forcing opponents into making two or more miscues on the field, but Oklahoma State has won eight of its last 11 games versus ranked teams.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total for their college football picks, as the UNDER is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings in this series, while the weather forecast suggests game-time temperatures in the mid-30s.

College Football Pick: Under 78.5
